The Lawrence Memorial Psychiatric Hospital saw many an interesting case. They treated anything from chronic depression to schizophrenia, and the doctors there were loyal and always helpful... even... a bit crazy themselves. Which was ironic, considering they were supposed to be creating a safe, sane environment. But Doctor Gabriel Novak was not your usual psych doctor.
He was a chipper, playful, almost mischievous Doctor, always bringing a ray of sunshine and a little life into the building. The patients seemed to enjoy him, because, unlike most psych doctors and counselors, he didn't see them as broken or insane. He simply saw them as people, and treated them as such. He could crack a joke, tell some good stories, and also be compassionate and caring at the same time.
And, oddly enough... he was probably one of the few people willing to host the weekly Alcoholics Anonymous and group therapy meetings at the hospital.
His day was pretty routine, despite working in what most would call a "loony bin." But that day... that day things changed. Like. A lot.
It all started with a police report and a judge sentencing.
He got the file a good hour before the AA meeting. Dean Winchester, age 30, recently charged for disturbing the peace, property damage, assault causing bodily harm, and aggravated assault. He had a long list of DUI's and past fights, and, by the looks of it, he also has issues with alcoholism and bipolar disorder.
At his court hearing, Winchester was sentenced to community service, a large fine, and, since Judge Jody Mills had gotten tired of having Dean getting in trouble cause of alcohol, to attend three months of AA and therapy.
"Heh, looks like you're in for a bloody meeting today." Meg Masters, a nurse at the hospital, mused with a grin as she read over the file. "You're his shrink too, huh?"
"Yes, it appears so." Gabriel huffs and then shrugs. "Oh well. I've had worse."
"Sure, sure." Meg snorts and then looks up and grins widely. "Oh, hel-lo handsome. Check your six, Gabe. Hotties comin' our way."
Gabriel turned around, looking at the two men walking down the hall towards them. And god damn Meg wasn't wrong. They were fucking gorgeous. They were both tall and good looking, but the one that caught Gabriel's eye was the shorter one. He was muscular as hell, flannel sleeves barely able to contain the arms beneath them. He had spiked hair and a sharp jaw line with pink lips and mossy green eyes. His jaw was tight, like he was annoyed by something the other guy was saying.
He was enough to make Gabe wanna toss his medical license to the wind and drag him into one of the break rooms for some fun.
Gabriel realized he was staring a little too late as the men noticed him, and he quickly cleared his throat, tilting his chin up towards the approaching strangers.
