Except for her tiny breakdown in the shower, Bentley seems to be having a decent day at the girl's house. I continue to watch just in case and I know that she has to go home soon.

She laughs at something Issie says and I'm taking aback by how beautiful she is when she doesn't look sad. Her cheeks are pink and full and her eyes bright. I wish it could be like this for her all the time.

I wander around, stuck in my own head and in hers. I hope she gets better soon... Even though I'll be sent back to the station for a new assignment. That will be a sad day. I shake the thought out of my head. Faintly, I hear Bentley telling her friend goodbye and I know it's time for me to start paying attention.

We're in her car and on her way to her house and her heart is racing. Her thoughts are moving a million miles a minute and it's hard for me to catch everything. If I could change one thing about my life, I would go back on Earth and kill her damn step father for all of the awful things he's said and done to Bentley. She's almost crying already and we're still blocks away from her house.

"I could just run away," she mutters to herself. Her thoughts focus towards her bank account and her personal items. Her step father would freeze her account and he has total control of how much money she can pull out.  "Dammit!" She smacks her steering wheel and the car swerves.

"You'll make it through this Bentley. You are strong. You are beautiful. You are worth every single breath you take. Live. Breathe. Be strong." I murmur into her head. Her breathing picks up and then slows, almost like she heard me.

"Okay," she whispers and pulls into the drive way. The lights are on, not a good sign, and we're right back where we started. Full panic. Her hand shakes as she reaches for the handle and she quietly closes her car door. Her feet are silent in the sidewalk and she opens the door to house. I'm by her side in a split second. I feel so helpless not being able to intervene.

I hear her mother laugh, "Stop it Dan, Bentley's home."

"I don't care if that little slut is here. She's better off in a ditch somewhere." His gruff voice booms over the tv and her mom just sighs.

Bentley just stays silent and walks up the stairs. Anger rises in my chest. I really want to kill that bastard. I follow her upstairs. Please don't do anything stupid, Bentley.

She sits on her bed, her arms crossed over her chest, like she's trying to keep herself from falling apart. Her eyes are red and tears fall into the pink sweatshirt. She angrily wipes her nose and throws her pillow at the wall. She gets up and goes to her closet. Oh, no. She pulls downs the pill bottles, around twenty of them of all different kinds.

"Bentley no, stop. You're okay. You can do this. I promise. Please." She stares at a bottle of sleeping pills and takes off the lid and dumps the contents into her hand. "Bentley NO!" I scream and she jumps and spills the pills on the floor. She half screams and half sobs, a strangled cry. This isn't working. I need to do something.

I wait until she's calmed down and asleep in her bed. It's time to go to the Station.
