This is the AU I promised that will be in Dean's POV, I hope you enjoy!!

Dean had been going to his local diner called The Worker's Haven, because it opened so early, since he was little with his family every Saturday for breakfast, and sometimes dinner when his parents didn't have work. But with both of his parents gone and his little brother Sam off to college at Stanford, he usually went there alone.

Sometimes there was a cute waitress he would flirt with, but there was nothing like what happened when he walked in there today. It wasn't a girl that caught his eye, oh no, it was the chef.
His name was Castiel.

"Hey Dean. What can I get for you today?" Charlie, his high school best friend who's working there currently to pay rent until she graduates college.
"Oh, hey Charlie. I'll just take the usual bacon and pancakes. Hey, did you guys get a new chef?"
"Yeah, we did actually. His names Castiel, but the people around here call him Cas."

Cas...
It sounded familiar to him. But why? It was a name that has always been at the back of his mind. But he's never known him before...

That's strange...

"Does he make pie? I bet he makes a mean pie!"
Charlie looked back at the kitchen saying
"Yeah, actually, he is a really good baker. Wanna try?"

Dean handed his menu back to Charlie with the biggest grin on his face
"Of course."
"Okay, I'll be right back."

Dean sat there twiddling with his thumbs until Charlie finally came back with his apple pie and cup of coffee.
"Do you want this and the usual or just the pie?"
"The pie will be fine, thanks Charlie."
"No problem, Dean."

Dean took a bite of the pie, and realized how amazing it was. His mom's pie was good, but wow, this one was great. The cinnamon was evenly distributed and is that red apple?
"I think I'm in love..."
He said out loud, not knowing someone close by was listening.

After Dean was done with his food, he put a $20 on the table and left. Tomorrow was Charlie's birthday and he had to leave early if he was going to get her a present and get to work on time.

*The Next Day*

Dean got Charlie a gift he really thought she would like. He saved up for 2 months of his money that wasn't spent on taxes or bills or necessities to get it for her.
He walked in to the diner surprised to see streamers and balloons everywhere with a banner hanging saying
"Happy Birthday Charlie&Cas"
Dean didn't know it was Castiel's birthday, but to be fair, he hasn't even had a conversation with the guy. It was Dean's off day an his parents were in another town and Sam was busy with Stanford so he chose to stay at the diner with Charlie.

"Dean! You came!"
Charlie shouted with a small squeal while running over to hug him.
"Of course I did! I wouldn't miss your birthday!"
"It's not just my birthday. Hey Cas! Come here! I'd like to introduce you to someone!"

Castiel looked through where he was putting his next order with a smile on his face and walked through the door over to Charlie.
"Hey Charlie. Who's this?"
"Oh, this is Dean. The pie man."
The last little bit she whispered semi quietly over to Castiel.

"Oh. OH!"
Castiel has a slight blush creep up his cheeks when he realized this was the cute guy from yesterday who gushed over his pie yesterday at table 3.

Dean chuckled slightly.
"Wait, what is that suppose to mean?"
Charlie and Castiel looked at each other, then looked back at Dean.
"Oh, uh, I-it means nothing. Nothing at all. Ooh, look, what is that you got there?"

Dean looked at the bag in his hand and gave it to Charlie.
"Oh, just your present. I hope you like it."
Charlie opened the bag to reveal an expensive looking gamer head set and two new games.

"Dean Winchester, you officially know me too well."
He pulled Charlie into a bear hug. When they finally pulled away, Castiel looked a bit lonely so Charlie hugged him too.
"Happy birthday, Castiel."
"Yeah, happy birthday, Cas. It was nice meeting you."
"Thanks, Dean. It was nice meeting you too."
Both boys felt a light blush creeping over their face before looking away and going to opposite sides of the diner.

For god's sake Dean, stop acting like a teenage girl!
He thought to himself. Castiel was cute and he didn't want to embarrass himself in front of him.

As Dean was going around the diner catching up with all of his old high school friends, he heard 3 clinks on a glass made with a fork, then he heard a lightly raspy voice call everyone's attention.

"Everyone, I would like to just say a few words. As most of you know, I am new here, but this place felt like home the second I met my new best friend, Charlie. She's told me so much about this place and told me about some pretty cool people that I hope to meet soon. Everyone here has treated me with nothing but kindness and I hope I will be here for more birthdays to come."

As everyone was applauding and awing Castiel, Dean couldn't help but just stare at him and take in all of his features. His black hair, his toned skin, those biceps, the way his toes point inward when he stands, and his striking blue eyes. While Dean was staring, Castiel was looking around the room.
The second they made eye contact was the second Dean realized he was staring. He shyly looked away and pretended to look at a menu.
Castiel continued looking at Dean and walked back into the kitchen to make orders for the rest of the costumers.

*Time Skip*

It was the end of the work day and Dean was sitting on the counter eating a slice of pie. He was the last one there while Charlie was finishing cleaning up as she was about to leave also.
"Hey, Charlie, I got something I need to talk to you about."
"Dean, you already know, I don't like guys-"
"Charlie, it isn't about that. At all."
Dean set down his empty plate while he checked to see if Castiel was listening before talking any further.
"Castiel, he... he seems like a really cool guy. I kinda want to get to know him more."

Charlie stared at Dean in surprise.
"You mean-
You mean you like him?"
Dean blushed while trying to hide his face a little
"Well, yeah, kinda-"
"THIS IS PERFECT!"
Dean clapped his hand over Charlie's mouth
"Why are you yelling?!"
Charlie licked his hand to get it off of her mouth.
"Ew, Charlie, that's nasty!"

Dean wiped his palm on the side of his pant leg while Charlie took Dean's plate to Castiel.
When she came out, she handed Dean a receipt for his pie.
"Wait, why are you handing me this? I know the prices of everything in here."
"Oh, Castiel told me to give it to you. I don't know why, but I have to go. See you later, Dean. Bye!"

Dean looked over the diner island only to see that the kitchen was empty and that the swing door out back had just been closed.

Castiel went out the back door.

Was he trying to avoid me? What did I do?

Did he hear me?
Is he weirded out my me now?
Dammit, Dean! You blew it for yourself!

As Dean walked out of the diner, he read the receipt only because he was trying to find out why exactly it was given to him. He looked on the pack, only to find this written in blue ink.

A number and a note saying
"You're one of those cool people. And I heard you like pie, especially mine. Call me sometime
    XoXo
                -Castiel"

Oh my god
OH MY GOD!
He does like me!
Wait, I should ask him on a date! But to what?
Maybe a drive in.

Dean was ecstatic. He'd never have a guy give him his number before, he's never really gotten a guys number, although he tried once or twice. Dean rushed home as fast as he could so he could call Castiel and ask him on a movie date.

"Hello?"
"Hey Cas. It's me, Dean"
"Oh! Hello, Dean."
