Bear walked down the hall of his school with his hoodie up over his head. He held a three ring binder in one hand and a thick book in the other. The bell rang with a loud clang and he walked a little slower. He sauntered a little ways down the hall and came to a closed classroom door. He knocked calmly and waited until the professor opened the door. Professor Jameston opened the door with a very annoyed look and stared at Bear for a long moment.
"It seems so ironic that you of all people are always late."
Bear chuckled and pushed Jameston's arm away from the entrance as he sped into the classroom. He sat down at his desk quickly and pulled out his computer as the rest of his classmates had theirs out. Professor Jameston had only begun to turn around.
"B92103! This is your last chance! Remove your sweatshirt and no more tardiness in my class—or I'll have you sent to the other side of the academy." Jameston sneered and Bear glared at him. It was the worst punishment to be sent to the other side of the academy. They tortured the supers in some way on that side. No one really knew what, only that it was absolutely terrible. "So—unless you want to go there, I suggest that you use that incredible speed of yours to get to class on time."
Bear sat back in his seat, quickly pulled his hoodie off, and looked around as Professor Jameston started his lecture. Most of the students either had their heads down or stared directly at the professor so as not to make eye contact with Bear. They had been trained to be ashamed when one of their classmates was scolded and none of them were eager to break that training at that moment.
"Today we will be talking about the history of the Super Society and why it failed and was shut down by the government. Open The Long History Of Supers textbook to page twenty-nine and follow along with me." Each student pulled out their large history books and turned to the designated page where they began to follow along as their professor read.
"The Super Society was a group of Super individuals that fought crime all over the world. They controlled themselves and even created their own form of 'government' within the organization. In the year 1943 they began to take over most of the governments and slowly they gained most of the control in the world. World War II broke out at that point. Countries against each other and supers against regular people. Many supers died in that war, and once it was over most of the governments agreed to create organizations in which they would train the supers so that a revolution would never again break out.
"Your homework tonight is to complete the reading in this chapter and write a paragraph about why TOSI exists and all of the positive effects of it being put into place. You may start now. Whatever you don't finish is homework."
Professor Jameston clapped the heavy book together and set it down on his desk. Immediately, the students began to read through the pages and take notes for their essays. They all had the same look on their faces. Determination and obedience. Bear turned through his pages quickly and tore the edges as he accidentally flipped them harder than he meant to. He was done with his reading in minutes and his pencil on paper moved faster than any of his classmates could see. He was done just before the bell rang, only thirty minutes.
As the bell rang, Bear handed his book in and raced out of the classroom before Jameston could chide him for ripping up the perfectly new textbook. The pages just always seemed to rip when he turned them as fast as he could. That was always his excuse, though it always made the professors mad.
He zipped down the hallways and to his locker, pulling out his supplies for his power control class and then sauntering to a gym on the other side of the school. The bell rang just as he entered the gym. He sat down next to his friend Shawn and their teacher smiled. "So you're finally on time, B92103. S90206, make sure you keep him out of trouble. Shawn smiled at her and turned to Bear. They both burst out laughing, knowing that would never happen.
