'Thoughts/sides'
×××××××××
All I remember was running. A small voice in the back of my head told me to turn back, to go back to them, but fear had taken over all common sense I had.
Now, I'm standing in front of an old run down looking gas station. My hopes are to ask whoever is there for a phone, or for help. If luck is on my side, that will all come true.
Sadly, it looked as if it was not.
When I entered, it was a ghost town. It looked as though this place had been closed for quite some time. My disappointment added to my tiredness making me want to admit defeat.
‘No. Keep going’ that little voice was back again. My mind had an inner conflict, before they came to the conclusion of resting here for tonight.
‘She needs the rest,’ my sensible side seemed convincing.
‘She needs to get away from them’ my fearful side also had a convincing point.
‘In order to run, she needs energy.’ my fearful side had shut up after that.
I made my way over to the fridge in the back, and pulled out a bottle of water. As I took sips, I grimaced at the stale plastic taste it left in my mouth, but I was thankful nonetheless. It could have been worse. There could have been no water.
Moving on, I searched the abandoned gas station for any edible food. I found some food that wasn't too past the expiration date, and (surprisingly) some that hadn’t expired yet. Finding a clean-ish spot on the floor, I sat down and started my feast of stale food.
My body froze when I heard a slight noise behind me.
‘Run!’ My fear kept nagging.
‘See who or what it is, then take action!’ Seemed like I was going to go with my sensable side. I whirled around, bringing my knife out ready for attack, only to find a thin sickly looking cat. The poor thing flinched back in fear, but its big clear blue eyes never left the food i had in my hand.
“Hey there little guy.” I slowly inched toward the cat. “Want some?” I held out some food, and before I could even finish what I was saying, the cat ran over and started eating. “Well somebody's hungry.” I pulled out more food and pet the cat as he ate.
‘What are you doing?’ fear yelled in my mind. ‘You're wasting all of our food!’
‘Calm yourself. She will be fine. A little food won't hurt. Plus, it looks like the cat needs it more than us anyways.’
I started to tone out the two voices in my head as they started to argue. The rumble of the cat soothed me, and seemed to put me in a trance. My eyes soon started to become heavy and I eventually fell asleep.

A little girl sat in a corner. Her lip was trembling, body was shaking, and tears poured from her eyes.
“I'm sorry mommy. I'm sorry mommy. I’m sorry mommy.” If you hadn't known she was there, you would have mistaken her for a broken record.
The more the little girl spoke these words, the more she rocked, and if anyone saw her, they would have thought she was insane.
“You should be,” a deep voice boomed from behind her. The little girl stopped, unable to move due to being frozen in fear. “You were a very bad girl.” A shockingly cold blade was placed against her neck. The man leaned down close to her ear and whispered out softly “You are the reason why mommy's dead.”

I woke up in a panic. Sweat dripped down my face and I could feel the fear move through my body. I looked out the window to find the moon full and shining bright. I pulled over my backpack and rummaged through until I found my flashlight. When I turned it on, I let out a scream. The cat was still there, just sitting and watching me.
“You scared me.” I put a hand on my chest in an attempt to calm myself. The cat just blinked, and seemed to have an amused expression on his face. “Do you find this funny?” I looked at the cat for an answer.
“Wait, what am I doing? Am I really expecting an answer from a cat?” I sighed and laid my head back against the wall. “I really must be going crazy.”
I sat in that same spot till the sun rose. I started to drift off to sleep, when i heard a voice from outside.
“Are you sure she's here?” I filled with anger as I heard that british accent I hated so much.
“I‘m positive sir.” I looked out the window and saw two men in suits. The more sophisticated looking one was looking around.
“Very well. Find her and kill her. I trust there will be no problems?” The other man looked slightly panicked.
“B-but Delaney… nobody has been able to catch her! She's killed almost everyone who has tried!” The british man looked over at him.
“Well I guess you better catch her before she kills you then.” With that, the british guy vanished. After a few moments of what looked like self preparation, the man started looking for me.
“Come out come out wherever you are.” I could see the blade in his hands. “I’m not gonna hurt ya Praelia.” he smirked.
“Lies,” I whispered. I quickly packed my bag, and got ready to leave. I looked over at the cat and decided to bring him too.
“You're just too cute,” I said to him quietly. I made my way over to the back exit and was about to leave, when I felt a sharp pain in my arm. I looked at it in anger, and saw a silver blade in it.
I looked up, and saw the man who had been looking for me.
“You just made the worst mistake of your life.” His eyes widened in fear as my eyes glowed a dark blinding light. I threw the knife at him, and watched as it got stuck in his throat. His body glowed a light that would have blinded any human, but I stared right at him the whole time. He let out a scream, and his body fell to the floor, looking more human than he was. I turned, unfazed.
‘Nice. He deserved that,’ my sensable side let out a laugh.
‘You killed another one! Now they're gonna send more!’ I rolled my eyes at the comment fear made. They were going to send more no matter what.
“Well that's what they get for killing mum. For killing one of their own.” Silence followed that statement for a few moments.
My sensable side broke the silence.‘I suggest we run now Praelia’
