A smile grew on my face as I looked around. It definitely wasn't that bad here. Of course, it felt incomparable (and small) to our city penthouse, but it was enough for me at least.

"Say what you will, but this place isn't that bad," I stated, letting go of Ronnie's hand to walk past Mom and the door, and further into the living room area.

"Really?" Ronnie asked rhetorically, following after me.

"It's not the Dakota," I said, trotting toward the white Cabriole style sofa and sitting down on it. "But it's nice."

Ronnie laughed, walking over and plopping down on the couch beside me. "Whatever you say," she said, palming the material of the cushion.

Mom smiled, shaking her head and closing the door behind her. She set her purse on a table beside the front door, then came over to us. "You girls go settle in until Smithers has the car ready for us. Come on." She motioned for us to follow her, and we did.

After leading us to the hallway and pointing out our rooms, I eyed the door at the end of the hall.

"What room is that?" I asked as I pointed to it.

Mom walked over to it, opening it. "It leads up to my room."

"Up?" Ronnie asked, walking over. She peered into the doorway, me right behind her to see that there was indeed a stair case leading up to what was probably the master bedroom.

"I'll be up in my room," Mom announced, walking into the doorway and up the stairs, "and you two can go check out your rooms."

While Ronnie sauntered into her room, I entered mine. Before coming here, Mom had us go through the painfully boring process of demoing out our rooms so the movers knew where to put our bed sets and furniture, but it was worth it in the end.

Directly to my left beside the door was a white Victorian dresser. A large matching mirror in the shape of a heart hung just a few inches above it. I ran my hand over the smooth surface before setting my purse down on top. Across the room against the wall was a queen-sized bed, a cornice canopy above it. The bed was bare as my bed sheets were still in boxes. To the right of the bed against the corner of the room was a vanity dresser, a cushion stool in front of it.

Attached to the right wall was a pretty bay window and I walked over to it. A pastel pink cushion covered the surface, and I thought of the throw pillows I could buy to make it look prettier.

Across the room was a white computer desk, floral vines painted across the drawers and door; a champagne colored velvet club chair sat in front to accompany. To its right was a door that was more likely than not the walk in closet.
