Looking up, I stared or should I say found myself being stared at by three different sets of eyes that belonged to three different he-wolves. To be honest, to say I was afraid would be an understatement. Standing there, staring back at them, I felt the fur along my body lift to stand on end, my ears to pull tight against my skull, and my muzzle twisting into a snarl. Wait – did I just snarl at them?
It was official. I had defiantly lost my mind after my first shift and now would probably be torn apart by three fine specimens of he-wolf material. I was living the dream, baby. Not!
Confused as to why they were all looking at me like they were prepared to eat me, I slowly and carefully began to take timid steps backwards, my brain screaming at me in the background the whole time, but I was perfectly fine with ignoring it. After all, who needs animal instincts to survive? Not this she-wolf, nope, not at all!
When my back left paw stepped down on something that brought a rather loud Snap! in retaliation to my desperate urge to flee from the scene, it seemed to break whatever spell was holding the three wolves in front of me and I found them beginning to advance in my direction. Of course this meant I was doomed to be some cruel joke of puppy chow. If you could call those giant behemoths puppies.
‘Did I have any last words… Hmm… Mom, Dad, it was nice knowing you. James… You have bad hygine so work on that for the sake of your mate..’
‘Who has bad hygene? I bathe. Occassionally.’
I nearly yipped in joy, my body suddenly going rigid as I realized my brother was also about in these damned woods and though we had yet performed the ceremony to connect us with the pack link, we still had one another.
‘Please oh please tell me you are either nearby the western boarder – make that eastern, or have people around you.’
‘Why? What’s going on Rue? Why are you at the boarder? Are you running away? Oh no, you’re not being one of those girls who gets rejected then runs away from it are you? Because I am so not crying or kicking anyone’s ass-‘
‘James, shut your trap and come fucking help me before I become a pretty pile of dog shit in the later future. I would prefer not to have my headstone marked that I was eaten by three rogue he-wolves on my damned birthday!’
‘Holy- Alright, Rue, just stay there. I’m- Wait, if you need to, run, run away or run to me or run. Just fucking run until I can get to you. I’m near the pack house, I’ll stop there for help.’
My head tilted to the side as I mauled over my brother’s idea. He wanted me to run for my life. Brilliant. If I had thought that would have worked, I would have already been on my way by now. Though she-wolves were typically faster than he-wolves, that didn’t mean I would be able to outrun these – Hey, is that one giving me a weird lopsided wolf grin? Oh no, no he’s licking his chops! He’s planning to fucking eat me!
Yep, with that thought surging around in my brain, something snapped and I found myself flying through the air. But was I going towards the pack house where it was safe? Nope. I was throwing myself right into the jaws of that tongue dangling wolf, my muzzle showing fang as I snarled when my paws hit him in the shoulders. Funny how attacking had not been what they had expected and the impact of it brought me wishing dearly that I had controlled myself. Needless to say, my attack had opened the gates to Hell and it all broke out.
