👩(Aleeza): The 3 rules that horizontal asymptotes follow os based on the degree of the numerator, n , and the degree of the denominator ,m. If n < m, the horizontal asymptote is y = O. If n = m, the horizontal asymptote is y = a/b. If n > m, there is no horizontal asymptote.
👮(Nathan): Very good...Hmm...Another question, how to find a horizontal asymptote?
👩(Aleeza): To find horizontal asymptotes: First, if the degree of the denominator is bigger than the degree of the numerator, the horizontal asymptote is the x-axis (y = 0). Second, if the degree of the numerator is bigger than the denominator, there is no horizontal asymptote. Third, if the degrees of the numerator and denominator are the same, the horizontal asymptote equals the leading coefficient of the numerator divided by the leading coefficient of the denominator.
