Prologue: I Am Going to Die
Death, it's a silly thing. People tend to fear it, even though it is inevitable in the end. I have faced death many times, it is almost numbing now when I'm told I have another tumor or that the cancer is back. I'm fifteen now, and I have beaten cancer three times so far. I'm deeply in love with a boy that I met only a few months ago, yet it is like I've known him forever. Now, the cancer is back. It is terminal. No one can say the words, but here it is, I am going to die. I do not know how I will tell everyone, but I am determined to spend my last moments living life to the fullest. My name is Vera Davis...and I am going to die.
