Chapter 1- Annabeth's Point of View:

____

I'm running as fast as I can, running for my life. My calves began to burn as I sped across the seemingly endless field. I can still hear the snarling and growling from behind me, only encouraging me to go faster. Just across the field I can see my destination, an abandoned army base the government used before the plague broke out. I see them! I see people moving around behind the fence!

"Hey!" I shout, "I made it! Open the gates!" I scream, trying to get their attention. They just keep stumbling and shuffling on. Wait a second... I slow to a stop and observe the people behind the gates for a minute, my breath coming out in rugged pants.

Shuffling. All of them. In sync. Well shit.

"No! No, no, no!" I yell, this was my last plan. My plan Z. This base was supposed to be protected and safe! But instead there are mindless meatbags roaming around and waiting for their next meal to just waltz up. Well guess what? I'm not going to be that meal, I'll come up with another plan Z.

The groaning and snarling sounds closer now, I turn around to see that I'm surrounded by zombies. I pull out my dagger from my boot and pierce the skull of the first one that stumbles up to me, my Yankees cap falling off in the process.

If I'm going down, I'm taking these meatbags with me.

Percy's Point of View:

It was just another dreary, normal day. The fog was thinner in the woods than back at the hideout, but its still kind of tough to see. My best friend Grover and I are out gathering any food we can so we came to the forest to see if there are any fruit trees.

"Grover, how many apples do you think-" I stopped talking when I heard a frustrated cry, "No! No, no, no!" I looked at my best friend, "Did you hear that?" we said simultaneously. A few seconds later we heard a "Damn it!" and a few more explicative words. We shared a look that said, 'Lets check it out' and followed the groans and expletives to the field in front of the military base we trap zombies in.

Never In a million years did I think I would ever see a girl fighting off a horde of zombies and win. There were at least a dozen zombies, but judging from the several corpses in the dead grass, I assume there was way more than twelve. She was amazing, slicing through everything that came within arm's reach. But one zombie snagged her shirt and tried to pull her down. Just as I was about to get my gun ready and help the Mystery Girl, she flipped the zombie over and curb stomped its head until it quit moving.

Without thinking, I fired my gun at the remaining five zombies left. They all crumpled and fell to the ground, making the girl whip her head around and look me. The second our eyes met, I saw the fire blazing behind those intimidating grey eyes. She made her way over to me and I smiled at her, hoping she'd return the gesture.

Instead all I got was, "What the hell is wrong with you?!" well that definitely wasn't the response I was hoping for. "Do you know how hard bullets are to find?!" Grover shifted uncomfortably and whispered, "She reminds me of Juniper." I smirked at him as the mystery girl stormed over here.

She took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, "Sorry for snapping at you, its been a long day." she said as she gave me an apologetic smile. I smiled back and extended my hand, "I'm Percy Jackson." I introduced myself.

She shook my hand and looked into my eyes, "I'm Annabeth. Annabeth Chase." we stayed like that for a while, with my hand in hers and our eyes locked. It was nice... Until Grover, being the awkward person he is, clears his throat and extends his hand.

"I'm Grover." he muttered as he looked at the ground. She smiled at him and shook his hand, "Hi, Grover. Its nice to meet you." she politely said. He just stared at her and let out his nervous laugh, "Bahaha."
