—
she was bored.
it has been a week since inseong died, and today is the first time she went to school after the day she fought with inseong, which is three days before he killed himself. she was still at the hospital when she saw the news about inseong jumping off an abandoned building. she did have a little impact on it, they used to be friends back then.
staring at the empty page, she yawned, not even bothering what the teacher said in front of the class. she just wanted to get the hell out of the class and go home.
"so students, for the upcoming school break, you'll need to find a partner for the project i said yesterday. park chaerin, are you listening?"
she flinched as she heard the teacher called out for her name. all the students turned to look at her. damn it, what did the teacher said just now? she thought. she gave up and just shrugged, making the teacher shooked her head.
"i said, you need to find a partner for the project."
chaerin cursed under her breath, followed by a small sigh. how can she find a partner when she have no friends and everyone are scared of her? well, she did have a few but not in this class. she doesn't even know how she ended up being in the one of the smart students class.
"you can discuss with your partner now. i'll be having a meeting. don't be too noisy."
some students stood up and went to their partner, leaving only her without a partner, sitting there just looking at the others.
—or maybe not.
she saw someone without a partner few rows in front of her. he was busy flipping through his textbook and jotting down some notes. i'll ask him to be my partner, then. she said in her heart.
gathering her courage, she stood up and went to him. she slowly tapped his shoulder and he looked up.
"excuse me? do you have a partner?" she tried asking as gentle as she possibly can.
"umm no. actually i prefer doing it myself."
awkward silence.
"oh-oh! never mind then! if you want to do it by yourself, its fine! i'll do it myself then.. uh what the fuck am i saying.." she muttered at the end, but its loud enough for him to hear. he chuckled a little.
"i can partner up with you if you want."
"really? what a saviour thank you so much!"
she smiled brightly and threw herself on the chair, on the other side of the table, facing him.
"i'm sorry for disturbing you. i mean, i'm not really good at this kind of thing." chaerin stated as she opened her notebook.
"its okay, sometimes its good to have someone to help you."
the conversation ended there, leaving chaerin bored, since the male didn't tell or give her something to do.
trying to break the awkward atmosphere, she started a topic. "i think we should introduce ourself first, since.. well i barely came.."
taeyong nodded. as he expected, she doesn't know him. maybe she remember his face, but not the name or backgrounds.
"i'm taeyong."
"nice to meet you. i'm chaerin." she threw a smile.
did my heart just skip a beat? he thought in his heart.
"you look so familiar.. –oh! i saw you that time, at the corridor, right? with.. donghyoung?"
"doyoung."
"oh, sorry. doyoung. so why didn't you partner up with him?"
"he partnered up with his girlfriend."
"i see."
they went silence again. chaerin chose to not disturb taeyong as he was concentrating on finding notes and jotting it down. this guy wasn't afraid of her, which makes her felt relieved a bit.
"taeyong." she called out for him with a soft voice.
"hmm?"
"aren't you scared of me?"
taeyong stopped writing and looked at her. "no, why would i?"
"nothing." she smiled. "can i have your number." she asked, changing the topic.
"sure."
