"Hi, could you lead me to the B dorm?" I ask who I'm assuming is the bookkeeper of the school.
She has a small flag above her hanging off some part of a whiteboard. The flag says "James Madison University" and is dressed in purple and shimmering gold fabric.
"When you leave here, take a right and walk past the science building and it will be on your left" she says without looking up from her computer.
"Thank you" I say before I walk off.
Keeping her directions in mind, I leave the main office, take the right, pass what I assume is the science and building before realizing I missed my left turn to the dorm. After several minutes of debating where I should turn back, I finally find myself stumbling into my dorm's portion of the campus.
Dorm 134. Dorm 134. Dorm 13- here it is
I raise my hand and knock on the door prior to hearing a "Come in".
"Hi, you must be Dylan!" a perky blonde says.
Wow, she's a stunner. She has long blonde hair that flows naturally curly and reaches her lower back, her blue eyes shine bright against her tan skin. She's tall and very thin and has curves everywhere a girl should.
I should definitely be expecting lots of boys here to come and see her.
"Oh, uh hi, yeah I'm Dylan" I say flatly. "And you are?" I ask.
"I'm Cassie and I'm a sophomore here." She replies while moving her boxes off my bed.
"Oh cool I guess, I'm a freshman" I state.
"Don't worry about the size of the campus, you won't get lost. What's your first class?" She replies while grabbing her schedule off of her already put together desk.
"Uh Chemistry with Ward" I reply while scanning back over my classes for the hundredth time today.
"Oh yay! That's what I hav- well my whole little group of friends have!" she exclaims.
"Well at least I will have you to guide me through tomorrow" I say attempting to be optimistic.
I begin slowly unpacking my boxes and rearranging my part of the room. Since it's a pretty small room the only damage I can do to it is hang up a couple of paintings that I really enjoy and set up a small vanity and desk, each on opposite sides of the room. With three boxes left, my last obstacle to tackle is putting my clothes in the small closet, which is even tinier than before because Cassie took up about 3/4 of it.
I hang not even a third of my clothes before I run out of closet room.
"Oh, I have a dresser you can use. I should've ask to use that much of the closet, but I have the dresser as a substitute for you" she suggests.
"I, uh, guess that will be fine seeing as I don't really have any other options" I try to say as nicely as possible.
The journey starts again as I unpack my last two boxes into the chestnut wood dresser that sits adjacent to my small queen bed.
I don't worry about a super nice bed set for right now, and just stick to some comfy sheets and a random comforter.
I really should buy some stuff that matches.
There's an outlet right next to the edge of my bed and below my small nightstand. I plug my charger in and let my phone absorb some battery for the night.
"I wake up at around 8:30 to shower and get ready, do you want me to get you up at that time to?" Cassie questions.
"Yeah that's sound fine" I reply.
