●In the Union Assembly Hall●The Chancellor of Earth strode into the hall of the Union. It was the first time he had the opportunity to be present at the capital planet of the Union alliance, but he was sure it would not be the last since their planet was accepted as a member of the Union merely a few weeks ago.
The aftermaths of the destruction of their planet were quickly rebuilt over the flames, but he knew that the lives of the Earthlings would never be the same. Devan had promised everyone peace when they had just established civilization following the Nuclear War and led all of them through the painful past to peace. But they had made the mistake yet again, to choose war over peace, but their losses were worse than anyone would have expected.
The cameras around the hall flashed as soon as he entered, and he strode towards the podium in front of the hall. All the leaders of the Union were there, and all eyes were fixated on him.
The Chancellor spoke atop the podium, his voice reverberating around the hall. The galaxy was listening, humankind was listening as he spoke about the future of their planet, and peace within the galaxy.
"We earthlings," The Chancellor ended, "Had promised ourselves peace, but at the crossroads between war and surrender, we chose war. This destruction was what we chose, and in this war, there are no winners -- only sacrifices."

This is the last chapter (besides the Author's Note that I am still writing) of the story, I hope you enjoyed it, see you in my next novel! 😊😊
