"Pan!" I screech just before hitting the ground. I clench my eyes shut to brace for impact but open them when it never comes. My consciousness almost slips from me when I realize just what I'm seeing.

I'm flying.

"Scared?" he cocks his head and I scowl at him. He soars so effortlessly while I struggle to maintain a strange sort of balance in mid air.

"Well, yes! I'm being kidnapped by the ghost and he's just pushed me off a cliff!" I hiss.

"Because you can fly," He says. There's a hint of amusement in his voice.

It's the strangest sensation- but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't somewhat enjoying the feeling. We weave through the clouds, and something inside of me wakes up in a way I've never felt before. I haven't even left the borders of my village prior to this, let alone flown across the night sky towards some unknown destination aside the villain of my dreams. While I can't deny the fear I still undoubtedly feel, I can't deny the freedom I feel either.

I finally get ahold of the whole flying thing just before finding myself dangerously close to smacking a massive pirate ship as it drifts among the stars. I watch it in awe as we pass, and notice Pan almost falter at the sight of it. He's clearly disgruntled, but continues on.

"Where are we going?" I question, avoiding looking down at the distant earth below as we continue to ascend.

He looks at me, his glowing eyes full of thrill. "Second star to the right and straight on 'till morning," he grins.

"And where will that take us?" I breathe.

"Why, Neverland, of course. The game, my dear, is about to begin," he winks before turning his attention ahead.

And that's when I see it. An island shrouded in swirly clouds and puffs of fog; no doubt Pan's masterful work. A mountain peaks out of the very top, the only truly visible piece of land. As we approach, I begin to make out more of it. A massive island, covered in trees and lakes and rivers. Waterfalls cascade down the single mountain in rainbows of mist. A backdrop sprayed with stars and illuminated in moonlight. It's absolutely enchanting.

Eventually, we touch down on Neverland, his landing much more graceful than mine. I practically topple over to the
ground, my hands burying in the sand. The feeling of freedom is immediately sucked away as I'm brought back to my senses.

"Thanks a lot," I grunt.

"Lighten up," He says with an ironically heavy tone. "there's no sadness in Neverland."

"How can I lighten up?" I say quickly, tucking brown curls behind my ear frustratedly. He just watches me with an amused glint. "You stole me from my home."

"I can't very well allow a girl to saunter around her village spilling details about the mysterious Peter Pan, can I? They could find my home," Pan shrugs as if it's obvious. It isn't until a few moments later that I realize he'd just given me his full name. Peter Pan. Such an innocent, youthful name, perhaps prophesying that he must have once been both of those things. "I still have to go to the village without getting caught every now and then, so my identity being unknown is an advantage. But don't worry, love. When this is all over, I will return you safe and sound."

Liar.

"When what is all over?" I ask.

"What's the fun in telling you my plan now?" He folded his arms and straightened his posture, giving him almost a whole foot above me.

"You're mad," I mutter when I can't find anything else to say and he smirks.

He tilts his chin, as if incredibly flattered by my insult. "Thank you,"
