Another Day

It was only a few years later. Rigor reached the age of five years now and his name started to get a little known in the area. A pack who lived a few kilometres away had moved more to the south, away from Rigor. The constant sight of these black birds in the environment didn't do the young pack much good. Rigor wasn't effected by it, so he didn't actually care about it. There was a small change in the parts around his territory. There were less animals. The living wanted to be seperated from him. It was not yet their turn to pass, so why would they even bother? Ofcourse the smaller animals stayed, caring for the trees in and around his territory. It attracted birds of prey so the ecosystem wasn't totally gone and life here just went on. The only thing missing were large prey and predators. But life managed and everyone was fine.

"What are you thinking about?" Dux asked the wolf who was lying in the entrance of his cave with his head resting on a badger's ribcage.

"Something I haven't thought about lately. A few years ago someone visited me to 'check on me' or something, but I have no idea who she was." he explained. He could clearly remember the thin grey lines forming a tree on her chest. It probably had to be Yggdrasil since she looked and spoke like she had a connection with her. The other detail he remembered, were the bright blue eyes that shone into the world with some mystery and an ancient glance. But what was she? She looked wolf, but the blue eyes indicated she wasn't. Or at least not a full wolf. Maybe something like Rigor. But there was so much he questioned. Who was she? What was she? Why did she want to check on him? And she was somewhat distrustful to him. She didn't reveal anything about herself and seemed to know bits and pieces about him. As she warned him it confused Rigor. He wasn't planning on doing something horrible. But what was she talking about? She didn't really give a hint. Something terrible. Murdering someone without any plans of using the remains? Or what did he have to expect?

Rigor sighed. He couldn't find anything on her. Maybe she didn't even knew what he was about to do and just felt something bad comming. Rigor couldn't really do very much about it either. He already watched his moves and thought about scenarios he would probably face when the time was there to go to Yggdrasil, only to face the source of evil.

He closed his eyes for a moment. His head filled itself with images of the strange wolf and images of murder. Would he murder someone? Rigor didn't see why he would. He would certainly watch his steps even better. No way he was planning to do something stupid.

He opened his eyes again, lifted his head of the ribcage and got back on his four feet.

He walked trough his territory. Grim Reapers gave him a quick look when he passed by. He saw some birds leaving and one also said a goodbye to him. Lately there were barely any intruders to be found. Rigor loved it. They finally learned that there was a place they couldn't go trough. Death was king in that part of land. Grim Reapers ruled the air where there was no other bird to be found. At least they understood.

An arriving Grim Reaper disturbed his train of thoughts. It was a young bird. Older than Rigor, but he was still learning the Ways.

"Gavo told me to meet him here. Do you  happen to know where he is?" the young crow asked him. Rigor didn't know a Gavo.

"I don't know him. With all these birds arriving and leaving it's hard to keep up with the names. I don't try because of that reason. Maybe someone else can tell you." he said in a friendly manner and continued his walking. The crow nodded and flew off to continue his search for Gavo.

When Rigor got back he realised how bored he was. He didn't receive a call out, nor did anything else happen. It was a short periode of silence.

When he arrived at the place where he started his walk trough the land, he just sat down. He again thought about the wolf that had been there. He hated the feeling that he couldn't link anything to her. Not a trace. Not a single clue.
