Chapter 6
-Sin-
I sensed a feeling of pride inside when I heard the triumphant yells of my group's men. They were obviously winning the skirmish. I felt someone picking me up and I groaned. My body ached with a fierce intensity. "Sin... Stay with me, please," I heard Princeton say desperately. I sighed and relaxed some, I knew I could trust Prince. "Prince," I murmured, "you came." "Of course I came for you, Sin. I will always come to your aid," He said and he carried me somewhere, probably his horse. I could hear his heartbeat, and for some reason it calmed me down a lot.
I felt myself be lifted and my back pressed against a chest. "Thorn, take her to safety and to a healer. She's not in any kind of condition to do anything." "Prince, please don't leave me," I whimpered, forcing my eyes open. I saw him looking up at me from the ground, his shirt covered in fresh blood. "Sin," He began, but was interrupted by an arrow sinking into his shoulder. He cursed, then bellowed "Get her out of here, Thorn!" "No! Don't you dare leave him!" I thrashed in Thorn's grasp. He grunted and kicked the horse into a gallop. I gasped as he left his leader behind.
"What are you doing?" I yelled angrily. "Doing what my leader asked of me." He replied icily. I cried the entire way back to camp. When we got there Thorn carried me to the Healer's tent and laid me on a cot. "Go help Prince, please." I begged. "I will," Thorn said softly and left. The old man tended to me and I fell asleep, my eyes sore and puffy.
-Prince-
I watched Thorn take Sin away, her fighting him as well as she could. Please be okay, I silently begged. I turned around and drew a bow from my back and an arrow from my stash and fired at the one archer who put an arrow in my shoulder. I did not wait to see his fate as it sunk into his chest.
I hit a few other archers in the posts around the Zanthanian camp before putting my bow on my back again. I pulled my sword from its' sheath and parried an enemy's thrust. I slashed him across the chest and blocked yet another advance. I blinked in surprise; an arrow had sprouted from his throat. He gurgled and blood poured down his front. His eyes went blank and I stepped to the side as he fell forward.
I felt someone put their hand on my back and a second later a sharp pain. They were pulling the arrow out. I winced and I heard Dag say, "Let's finish this, we need to get some distance between ourselves and this area." I nodded in agreement and stood up straight, then charged into the few remaining enemies with a loud yell. Claw, Dag, Lion and a couple others joined me in finishing the men off.
"Are there any prisoners?" I asked loudly to make sure my men heard me. "We kept Lamar sir," Claw said with a smirk. I grinned, "Good." Lion had saved most of the slaves in a larger tent, I saw to them first. "Are any of you Zanthanians?" I asked. They all looked at me confused, so Dag asked in what I assumed was Zanthanian tongue if any of them were of Zantha. They all shook their heads and one replied with something. Dag looked at me and said, "They're from Barberich."
"Barberich?" That is a 300 mile journey! Dag nodded. "Tell them they are free, please," I said to Dag. He turned back to them and said something. They looked relieved and nodded what seemed to be thankfully and began chattering excitedly.
I sighed, a huge weight dropping off my shoulders now that I knew Sin was back in my care. “Back to camp, then we’ll discuss this situation further.” I rushed back to camp, straight to the healer’s tent where the cots were outside. I saw Sin lying on a cot, sleeping. I dismounted quickly and ran over to her, then knelt next to her cot. I hugged her to my chest and she groaned into my shoulder. I laid her back down gently and saw her eyes were still closed, her brows creased. “What’s wrong?” I asked anxiously. She shook her head, and I examined her.
