One Week Later ......

Brianna headed for the Grill exit only to find Stefan blocking her way.

"And where do you think you're going?" He asked.

Brianna felt the blood rush to her face and all of her vampire instincts were screaming at her. It must have shown in her expression because Stefan looked concerned.

"You need to hold yourself together, Bree." He warned in a low voice.

"There are too many innocent people here tonight who you could hurt." Stefan searched the crowd until his eyes landed on his Brother. Yet it was all the distraction that Bree needed to catch him off his guard. She grabbed him and they were very quickly out into the Grill parking lot .

"I don't want to be here, Stefan!" She snapped. "And the last thing I'm going to do is be trapped in a noisy crowded bar with you and Damon guarding me like a pair of pit bulls!"

She was such a new vampire that she had to work much harder to pull off many of the vampire tricks that Damon and Stefan could do on a daily basis without even thinking about it. Stefan folded his arms across his chest and refused to back down .

"You haven't learned yet how to properly defend yourself yet, Bree." He reminded her. "Listen to me. Your deranged ex-husband is out there somewhere, right now, and he's hunting for you. And that would mean that he now knows that you are a vampire."

"And that means he's going to be armed with vervain, wooden bullets, and a very sharp stake."

They both turned at the sound of Damon's voice. Damon sauntered across the parking lot to where they stood.

"He won't just try to kill you, Bree. AGAIN, mind you. He'll get his kicks out of torturing you first, and then he'll kill you."

"Won't he be surprised then, when he's the one who gets tortured instead? " She hissed.

Damon sighed dramatically. "You can't be alone just now, Brianna. Did we NOT just have this conversation last week?"

"Well, I'll take my chances." She replied and Stefan took a step toward her.

"I may not be as strong as my Brother is...but even on animal blood, I'm stronger then you are by any means."

Brianna looked uncertain. "You don't know that."

"Bree, just being older then you makes me a dozen times stronger! NOW! I don't want to kill you. But if that's what it takes to get you somewhere safe where you can't hurt anyone..?" Stefan shrugged his shoulders. "Then I don't have a problem doing it."

Damon looked skeptical but remained quiet. Bree knew she had to get away from the both of them or she felt she would lose what little control she possessed. Most of all, she longed to put as much distance as was possible between herself and Stefan Salvatore; as her hormones were on overdrive since she'd become a vampire. She wanted to run but Stefan was onto her.

"I'll look after you, Bree. You 'll be safe." He promised.

Without warning, Bree lunged for him, but he was still too quick for her. In a single second, she lay dead at Stefan's feet, her neck broken. Damon listened closely to make sure there was no one else nearby to have witnessed the scene. "Impressive." He said to Stefan. "I'll hang out inside with the party for awhile. Call me if you run into problems."

LATER....

"How's she doing?" Damon asked when Stefan called a couple of hours later. "I can imagine that she's crankier then all hell, with you snapping her neck and all." He drawled. "Bet she sure didn't see that one coming. You surprised the hell out of both of us with that on, Brother. Didn't think you had it in you where Bree's concerned."
