[Chapter One]

- Alissa p.o.v -

I walked through King's Cross Station, pushing my trolley which held my trunk and my long haired black cat, who's name was Binx. I had named him from a character from a muggle movie that I loved. I maneuvered in between the muggles who crowded around different platforms and finally found the small spot between platforms nine and ten. I gave a smirk and started at it with a run, soon emerging onto platform 9 3/4. The large, scarlet steam engine was already giving out a whistle, because I was late, like normal.

After I climbed onto the train I walked past a few compartments full of people until finally deciding which one I'd ask to stay in. I saw one with four boys. One of them had mousy light brown hair, a fatter figure and pale blue eyes, another had sandy brown hair, chocolate brown eyes, he was tall and had a bit of muscle, there were three prominent, light colored scars on his face and he looked quite tired, the third boy had messy black hair that stuck up in multiple places at the back, he had hazel colored eyes and he had a pair of black, rectangular glasses set on his face, he had some muscle too. The final boy had a pair of stormy grey eyes, semi long black hair, muscle that showed through the tight white shirt that he was wearing, and a smirk set on his face.

I opened the compartment door and all four of them looked up at me.

"Uhm. Hey, can I sit with you guys?" I asked.

"Course you can!" Said the boy with the glasses.

I smiled and stowed my trunk in the above area, taking a seat in between the two boys with black hair. "I'm Alissa." I said with a smile.

"I'm James Potter!" Said the boy with glasses, "This is Remus Lupin", he said, pointing to the boy with the scars on his face, "That's Peter Pettigrew", he pointed to the boy who gave her a nervous smile, "And this is-"

"I'm Sirius Black." Said the boy with long black hair and the stormy grey eyes. He shot her a smirk.

That's not awkward at all. I gave him a slightly uncomfortable smile.

"How come I haven't seen you before? I'm pretty sure that I know every girl in this school." Sirius said with a smirk.

"I just moved here. I used to go to Beauxbatons but we moved."

"Oh. Did you like it there?" Remus asked.

I shrugged, "It was ok but it wasn't anything special. I've wanted to go to Hogwarts since I turned eleven. I've read about it and it seems a lot better than any other magical school."

"Yeah. Hogwarts is pretty great." James said

"I'm sure you'll enjoy it!" Remus smiled.

"It'll be even better now that you're here." Sirius added with a wink.

I rolled my eyes at the last comment. I opened my mouth to add something but right as I did a gorgeous red headed girl walked in, making James stand excitedly. The're going to be trouble. I thought.

"Hey, have you seen-" she started, cutting off when she saw me. "Who are you?" She asked curiously.

"I'm Alissa Atkins. I just moved here." I gave her smile.

"Oh hi!!" The girl said, "I'm Lily Evans" She smiled, ignoring James who was staring at her with a goofy grin. "This is Marlene Mckinnon." She said, motioning to the girl who had just joined her at the door. This girl had light brown hair and jade green eyes, standing a little taller than Lily.

I smiled and waved, introducing myself once again. The two girls sat and joined them and the seven of us talked away, eating some candy that the trolley witch brought around, getting to know each other and becoming great friends already.

After the train had stopped and everyone had made it into the beautifully lit castle, I waited with the first years who were much smaller than me and I listened to what the teacher was saying.

"I am Proffesor Mcgonogall. When we pass through these doors you will place the sorting hat on your head and then join the table of the house that you're put into. There are four houses, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin." She looked around us all before telling us to follow her and entering the large hall.

I had read and heard a lot about Hogwarts so when the first years looked up at the magical ceiling in awe I didn't gasp or let my jaw drop to the ground like them. I had also read a lot about the sorting hat and it's history and origins. After we stopped I shot my new friends, who were all sitting at the Gryffindor table together, a slightly nervous smile. They all smiled back, giving me thumbs up and reassuring grins.

The sorting hat finished it's song and people started to get sorted into their houses. I listened as they were called up.

"Aberen, Shianne" Called proffesor Mcgonogall.

Shianne Aberen walked up to the stool, looking terrified. She sat down, visably shaking, and let the tattered brown hat be placed upon her head, covering her wirey ginger hair. The girls bright blue eyes darted around the room, making contact with my own shining green ones for a moment before looking up at the magical ceiling.

"RAVENCLAW" The hat shouted out.

The hat continued to sort the rest of the kids before Alissa, including "Aderidg, Dallan" ("HUFFLEPUFF") and "Ager, Jaycee" ("HUFFLEPUFF").

Finally I heard my own name be called by Mcgonogall, and I instantly headed towards the stool. I knew that I was getting some weird whispers and looks because I obviously wasn't a first year, but I didn't care. If they cared enough to ask me in their free time I'd tell them, if not then apparently they don't care enough.

I sat down on the stool and felt the weight of the hat be set upon my head. As I was thinking about all the people who had worn this hat and been in this possition through the years, I heard a quiet voice in my mind. I instantly knew that it was the hat and I felt myself hold my breath.

Hmmmm. The hat said, you're an interesting one for sure. A wide mind, yes. Brave, Ambitious too, also kind. Very kind. I made eye contact with my friends at the Gryffindor table and smiled a little. Ah. But I see that there is a faint longing to be in Gryffindor with them, The hat said, Well you are brave, you certainly have daring and nerve. Hmm. Yes. I think you'll fit in very nicely.

"GRYFFINDOR" I heard the hat yell from above me.

I saw my friends all clapping loudly, along with the rest of my table, and I got up and joined them, smiling and accepting their congratulations.

We watched the rest of the sorting and ate until we felt like throwing up afterwards before all heading to the Gryffindor common room together.

"G'night guys. We'll see you tomorrow" Remus said with a yawn.

"Night girls." James said, tossing a wink at Lily, making her roll her eyes.

"See you tomorrow!" Sirius said cheerfully, walking up to the boys dorm.

"Night boys" Me and Lily said in unison, heading up to the girls dorm with Marlene right behind us. The three of us changed into our pajamas and climbed under the warm blankets.

"Night Alissa, Night Marlene" Lily said.

"Night" Marlenes muffled voice came from my left.

"Goodnight guys" I said yawning. I fell asleep that night with a smile on my face.
