Searching

I sobbed and sobbed until I ran out of breath. I sniffed in tears.
"How...? why did I even think about leaving them in the house alone...?" I wondered to myself , wiping my tears off my face. Suddenly, the doorbell rung. I got up, trying to make it seem like I wasn't crying. I opened the door. A police man..?
"Ahem, I found news. Bad news and good news." He said.
" Uh... I hope you know that I'm not their...mom.. "
"Where are the parents, then..?"
" They're gone... So I'm their babysitter. "
"Well, then. You wanna see the news?"
" Oh.. Sure.. "
He grabbed my arm and he was almost dragging me to the police car. "Ow.." I said, rubbing my arm while sitting in the front seat of the police car. I looked away. The police man looked at me and nodded. I rose a brow. He smirked and drove to the library. I swiftly got out as he stopped the car in the library parking lot. It was chilly. Just as I saw him get out, I walked quickly away and into the entrance because I knew he'd try to grab my arm if I didn't. The librarian smiled and waved at the police man, but glares at me, mouthing "You should've watched those kids. You should've been the one who got lost." I tried to ignore her, but I just couldn't help but yell, " SHUT THE HELL UP! I DIDN'T ABANDON THEM! " The police man looked at me, dead in the eye. I gulped as I realized. He grabbed my arm and rushed to the bathroom.
"You listen me! You got it? If you don't, I will arrest you. Don't you ever talk to someone like that." He whispered quickly. I pulled my arm away.
" Don't talk to me like that! Hah, and you're the police man so you're not supposed to touch women like that! " I snapped. He stuttered and looked around in embarrassment. I smirked. He frowned and sputtered, "Don't try to do that shit with me." Offended. I sighed. I didn't wanna stay here with a so called policeman.
" Look, I know I was a being a jerk but, in order to find your daughters-"
I interrupted him by mumbling, "They're not my daughters. I'm babysitting them."
He glared at me and said, "Whatever. Anyways, in order to find them, we have to work together and we can't fight or argue with each other."
I sighed. "OK," I replied. He sighed and started walking to a table for only two people. He sat down and so did I. He got out five sheets of papers. I rose a brow as he sit them down on the table. He pointed to a picture of Flyn and Marianna's mother.
"She. She has history," he said. I studied the picture and looked back up at him.
"She has criminal records for abusing children and even adults. She's a bad person. Now, the dad.. is not that bad. But-"
I cut him off by saying, "I want to know more about Flyn and Marianna. What do you have about them?"
" Oh, some person said they saw them walking on the side of the street. No, he said he saw them running. "
That made me scared. I didn't know if they were in trouble. I am truly the worst babysitter EVER! Tears started to stream down my face again. The policeman sighed in sympathy and gently put his hand on my face. I smacked it off.
"I'm about to find them," I stated. I headed out of the door to find them, until I got an idea. I turned around and walked back up to the police officer.
"Who's the man that saw the twins?" I asked. " Where does he live? They can't be that far from here. "
The policeman grinned and said, "Get in the car." I squinted my eyes at him and walked out of the library and to the car. He started driving away. I was so worried that I wouldn't find the twins before their parents get back. I was also afraid of the parents. They were criminals! I tried not to have a panic attack inside of the car. I gulped and glanced at the policeman. I sighed.
"So.. I never got to get your name..?" I said.
He looked at me and replied, "It's Eric. I know, you're Melissa."
