Itachi couldn't wait any longer to devour his prey.
Before she could protest (if it was even possible), his lips were already at her neck, curled and fangs poised to strike. She shut her eyes tightly, preparing for the pain of what felt like two needles piercing in her flesh, but no more pain than that. Instead, she felt his lips enclose on her skin, and gently drink her blood.
It felt... good.
From her pulmonary veins, to her pulsating lungs, to her beating heart, and finally to his awaiting lips. It felt so enjoyable, so good, she almost wanted to move her hand to hold his head in place as he drank her in. But she didn't want to die. Her vision was darkening and eyelids were closing slowly. It was becoming harder to stay awake.
Suddenly, Itachi stopped.
He retracted his fangs from her neck and licked along the mark to heal it and looked into her innocent half—lidded eyes with an unreadable expression.
Why did he stop?
Itachi felt conflicted. He felt as if he'd continue, he'd be making a very irreversible mistake.
He would end up killing her.
Itachi didn't want to kill her.
Despite his confusion, however, he wasn't surprised this feeling came up. He never was one for murder in the first place. But why did this feeling arise now? Itachi thought he had buried this pacifist side of himself deep down within for the sake of the criminal name he's made for himself. He turned to gaze at the innocent face of the near-unconscious girl in his arms. If his heart was beating still, he would have felt it speed up. If his blood still streamed within his veins, they would be at his cheeks.
Itachi knew the reason why he didn't want to kill Y/N, after the countless he's already killed.
He loves her.
This new infatuation must have evoked his past self, his memories of being a gentle, sweet, pacifistic human. Itachi never thought he'd be able to love again, after what he had done. He's used to having everyone he loved deceased, because he killed them himself. The only exception being his dearest younger brother, whom he had sworn to protect. He missed the feeling of compassion, the feeling of love and to love someone else. He liked the feeling of her in his arms. How warm she felt.
Y/N had begun to slowly lose her consciousness in Itachi's cold arms.
The undead Uchiha noticed the young girl in his arms had started to become unnaturally still. An unmistakable pit of worry began to rise within him, which was very uncharacteristic for a being with a stale heart. Especially one who's been deliberately trying to suppress all feelings from awakening in general for many years.
He laid her paling form gently on the bed and quickly placed his sensitive lips to her jugular.
There was a pulse, if not faint. She's lost quite a bit of blood.
Itachi cursed at himself lightly. Giving a quick kiss to the spot on her neck, he hovered over her unconscious form and passed a bit of his chakra into her body, specifically her bone marrow. Perhaps this would speed up the process of blood reconstruction in her body over a good nights sleep. Itachi wasn't known for having much stamina himself, but to keep Y/N alive at this moment seemed more of a priority. And after the blood he had stolen from her, he has plenty of energy to reach back to the Akatsuki.
Itachi brushes his cold knuckles against Y/N's cheek lovingly.
His face held no emotion, but his eyes were burning with a newfound hatred and purpose. If he was to keep this girl alive from now on, she'll need to stay with him, and only him. He'd be the only one allowed to touch her, to see her. He'd kill anyone and everyone who try and steal her or get close to her. This young woman was the only thing the Uchiha wanted, the only thing he has left now. He won't lose her, she's his to keep forever.
With a cold kiss goodbye, he was gone.
But he will come back for her.
Itachi will make sure of that.
