Chapter 41—A Ruthless and Vicious Devil
Somebody come and stop them!

Mo Qinghan wanted to shout for her bodyguards, only to find that her throat felt like it was on fire, rendering her incapable of saying a single word.

Wait, that wasn’t right. Mo Qinghan finally became conscious that something was wrong, widening her eyes. This, somehow these people were below her, which could only mean that she, she was…

Mo Qinghan had completely sobered by this point. The pain had rendered incapable of moving or completely opening her eyes. Tilting her head upwards, she saw that her two elbows were tightly restrained with a rope and tied to the rafters of her room. Her two previously white and fair arms were now covered entirely in wounds, with no area left untouched. No wonder her elbows felt as if they were about to snap apart—it was because she was being suspended from her roof.

Moving her head upwards brought a wave of more pain over her body, forcing her to lower it again. She wanted desperately to say something, but, hanging from the rafters, felt too ashamed and furious to do so.

As she stared down, she realized that her clothes had turned into shreds, the tattered remains clinging to her body and exposing everything. The exposed skin was completely covered with bruises; furthermore, the word “lewd” was carved on every piece of exposed skin, small and large characters everywhere.

At receiving this kind of humiliation, Mo Qinghan, who had been pampered since childhood, felt a tear form in her large walnut-shaped eyes. Against her will, it escaped her eye, falling onto the floor and crystallizing into a frost flower¹. Painfully, she raised her head, glaring at the crowd of people cursing at her. Suddenly, the people felt an aura of extreme fear wash over them.

At this moment everyone remembered why Mo Qinghan had been allowed to act so arrogant and despotic. It was because she had the Empress’s support!

The reason why Mo Qinghan acted in this way and treated people so callously was not because the Empress loved her. Rather the main reason was when she was born, her innate disposition was different. A Daoist priest, passing by the Imperial Palace, had prophesied that she was actually the reincarnation of an immortal from Heaven, someone who had descended here by the will of the Heavenly Emperor to gain experience in the mortal realm. Once she had collected enough virtuous achievements, she would return to the world of the immortals.

Therefore, the Empress had turned a blind eye towards her actions, and the commoners could only suffer bitterly in silence, not daring to complain. After all, in their worldview immortals were an incomprehensible existence, only spoken of in legends. When at first they learned that this legendary existence had appeared in their world, everyone had regarded her with reverence. However, after all of Mo Qinghan’s misdeeds this year had been exposed, all of the reverence in the people’s hearts became completely erased. Instead of an immortal, they saw her as a devil, a ruthless and vicious devil that was viewed with both hatred and fear.

All this time, hidden deep within Mo Qinghan’s body, a pool of energy resided inside. Mo Qinghan’s resentment and fury towards her humiliation unknowingly awakened this energy.

The tattered rags of clothing covering Mo Qinghan’s body began to billow wildly. Suddenly, a green light enveloped Mo Qinghan’s entire body, gradually forming a whirlpool around her, appearing exceptionally strange. The ropes that bound her wrists became undone, followed by the rope that bound her to the rafters, releasing her to the floor. She raised her head slowly, her previously ink-black eyes appearing green in the light, glaring at the now silent and fearful crowd.
