Chapter Two

Its been two days and still no trace of this Kacey girl. Max was starting to give up hope..., but she can't not when it comes to those two hundred and ninety-two people, not when it comes to Griffin. Maybe Max thinks maybe I could cross-reference the database to see if a Kacey used to live in town. Max sat at her desk with all of her files pulled up on her computer and sure enough, when she typed in Kacey three people showed up. One was Kacey Miller a deceased woman who lived in the town in the 60's. The next was Kacey Rogers he surely isn't the girl she's looking for. Finally, Kacey Rodriguez, that's has to be her. Kacey Rodriguez went "missing" a few days before the first missing person did. Wow if you think about it Kacey actually looks like a suspect. Last known address is 5617 North Pine road. Max grabs her keys and heads for her cruiser to check the place out.

Max Knocks on the door of Kacey's last known address and when she gets no reply she checks to see if the door is unlocked and to her surprise it is. Max walks inside to look for clues and she doesn't have to walk very far because right on the dining room table lays a note in Spanish. Max being a Latina easily read what it wrote leaving her shocked and surprised. "No me siento seguro, así que me fui para el bosque si usted está leyendo esto por favor enviar ayuda." (I don't feel safe so I went for the forest if you're reading this please send help). Max knew where she was going next. Time to head to the forest.

The forest that is closest to this location is the North forest rarely ventured into due to the theory that it is haunted but police officers made that up to keep druggies out of the forest. Max packed up some essentials and clothes in case of a stakeout. The drive to the forest was quick she parked the car and headed into the dense forest to look for Kacey. The forest was quite beautiful and looked like a perfect place to hide if you didn't want to be found. About three hours into the forest Max sees a cabin with a light on. God, she hopes that its Kacey, but then again she doesn't because she doesn't want to give her to this Aric guy. Max walks up to the door and knocks three times. She hears a crash and the footsteps running across the floor towards her. Then a woman opens the door, she had long brown hair and beautiful brown eyes she was quite short around 5'0' and she was so stunningly beautiful.

"Can I help you?" This beauty of a woman asked.

Suddenly unable to talk Max mutters out, "Umm yes umm are you Kacey Rodriguez?"

"Whos asking?" The woman seemed nervous all of a sudden as if ready to retreat giving Max all the answer she needed.

"Hi, I'm Max Delarosa RVPD," Max answered confidently.

"Oh my God a cop thank God yes yes I am Kacey I'm so glad you found me I was worried Aric sent you."

So she knows who Aric is already which means that she knew he was looking for her and she fled for safety.

"Actually he did send me, but I'm not here to help him I'm here to help you because that's my job"

Kacey welcomed Max inside and brought her some water saying how she must be thirsty from all that walking.

"Can I ask why does Aric want you so badly that he would kidnap two hundred and ninety-two people for leverage to find you?"

"Wait two hundred and ninety-two people are gone because of me? I didn't know he kidnapped all those people, but I do know why he wants me. It's because of two reasons actually. The first reason is that I am the key he needs to control the world my blood is very powerful and in the wrong hands can control people and kill them. The second reason is that I refused to date him." she stated as if it was the most normal thing.

"Your blood can control and kill people?" Max's eyes widened in shock she knew this town wasn't normal but she wasn't expecting this.

"It can also save people who are dying and calm people down when they go into a panic attack it all depends on how you use it."

"Well, I am going to keep you safe Kacey I promise no matter what." Max didn't know why she was promising all of this to someone she just met but she was drawn to her and couldn't think of anything else to say.

"Thanks, Max that means a lot." Kacey smiled and hugged Max in a way that no person has ever hugged Max before. After the hug, Kacey went to the kitchen saying how Max needed to stay here with her to keep her safe because if Aric sent her he will soon know where she is. Kacey started making some dinner before coming back and taking the duffel bag Max had forgot she brought to a room in the cabin before returning back to the kitchen to finish what she had started making.

"I hope you like noodles and butter." Kacey smiles bringing Max a bowl. Max hadn't left the living room and had only made it to the couch to sit where she was now handed a bowl from Kacey.

Max smiled at Kacy before excepting the bowl, "Thanks and I do my mom use to make it for me all the time."

They spent the rest of the night talking and getting to know each other. Kacey learned about Max and the case she learned about her abusive father and her mother who died fighting in the field and how her mom is the reason she became an officer in the first place. Max learned about how Kacey is a fae and how she is related to the blood king family she learned about how Kacey never knew her family and grew up on her own. Max learned that Kacey became a self-made Millionaire after becoming CEO of her company KR Inc. a widely known business in this area and all over the United States. The more Max got to know Kacey the more impossible it became for her to turn her into Aric she knew she couldn't and she wouldn't she would find a way a way to keep Kacey and the almost three hundred people safe even if it was gonna cost her her own life.
