Chapter One || Starting Over
FELIX HUFFED TIREDLY AS HE shrugged both his duffel bag and backpack off of his shoulder and onto the creaking wooden floor. With a sigh he then scanned his new bedroom.
It was rather smaller than what he was used to, with its cream walls, a dainty queen sized bed that sat right in the middle of the room along with a rather dusty pillow, a small wooden desk on the right of the bed, a little window above the desk cascaded with blue curtains that seemed to be there for a awhile considering its faded appearance.
Lastly opposite the end of the desk was a narrow closet which Felix didn't seemed to mind since he hadn't brought much clothing.
He then sighed again.
Yup, nothing like his old home.
As quickly a the thought came he scolded himself while shaking his head thinking.
That place was never home.
Granted, it wasn't much but his mother would've taken anything as long as it was far away.
Felix peered down at his luggage and decided to busy himself by unpacking. First he dove into the backpack, pulling out his laptop and placed it on the desk. Fishing though the bag again a smile creeped along his lips as his hands grasped a familiar object.
A professional Nikon photography camera came into view. It was a gift he had received on his eleventh birthday which warmed his heart completely.
Felix laced the camera string around his neck staring down at the object resting against his chest.
Suddenly an idea popped in his head as he darted out of his room. He can always unpack later.
Trotting downstairs Felix hadn't seen his mother in sight, "Mom I'm gonna take a walk around the neighborhood, and maybe take some pictures!" He yelled.
"Alright but don't be out too long I'm ordering pizza for dinner." Came a loud reply.
"Yeah, sure!" And with that Felix left through the front door.
_
Felix exhaled loudly as he took in his surroundings.
He wasn't too far from home, just a few blocks down where a small community garden laid. Brown and red leaves blew here and there along the cool soft breeze indicating it was fall. It gave Felix an odd sense of comfort as he began snapping photos of the flying leaves.
He glanced at the camera to see the result of the photo and as usual, never disappointed.
The leaves were captured perfectly as if they were painted in place, various autumn colors blending beautifully with one another.
This made Felix smile.
He had always had a love for photography, capturing the amazing wonders of the world that sometimes happened in a split second or was blinded to the naked eye. It gave Felix some sort of hope that maybe there were amazing wonders in his miserable life that is probably just unseen.
Photography was more than a hobby for him also. This pulled Felix to somewhere perfect, somewhere calm as if there were no trouble.
That's how pictures seemed to him...untroubled and he greatly wanted nothing more.
Hearing the happy voices of children in the distance Felix followed the direction of the sound leading him to a small park where a few kids were laughing and giggling, swinging from monkey bars and running after each other.
He chuckled to himself watching the innocence unfold.
"But dad-"
"No buts Jihoon now let's go."
