Outskirts of Empire
3rd Person POV
In the midst of a torrential downpour, a young man made his way through the valley, in search of adventure, but as we all know, we may just get more than we bargained for.
*BOOM*
An abnormally large, multicolored bolt of lightning streaked towards the Earth. It hit nearby, in an outcrop of stacked rocks. The force of the lightning launched the young man off his feet, and he landed some few meters away. Meanwhile, the outcrop of rocks collapsed inwards to reveal a cave.
"Cough cough. What was that?" The young man asked.
He slowly got to his feet and walked back to the site off the impact. Usually, he would not be this curious, but he felt that this specific event was not a coincidence, so he decided to risk the dangers and head towards the area where the rocks used to stand. The darkness of the rain was now being lit up by the glow coming from the cave.
"Woah, look at that! I've never seen anything like it! This definitely isn't a coincidence." The young man continued to make his way to the site until he was standing at the mouth of the cave.
"Let's see what fate has in store for me." And with that, the male jumped into the cave.
As soon as he did, he was swept up in a gravitational force that for some reason pulled sideways instead of down. As a result, the male landed on the wall instead of the ground. He carefully stood up and looked around the cave.
The walls of the cave were crystallized while the floor (the wall he was currently standing on) was a solid black metal substance.
'Strange,' the male thought, 'I've never heard of a cave that had crystal walls and a metal floor. Also, what is this metal? It's not like any I've encountered before.'
The male continued to explore the cave until he reached a rather strange occurrence in the cave. The trail on the floor seemed to snake onto the walls of the cave. When the male proceeded to follow the trail, he found that the gravity shifted once again to align with the metal path.
'Hmm, so either the metal is a large magnet that attracts organic material rather than metal, or I really am somewhere I shouldn't be.'
'Cometh closer young one.'
"WHO SAID THAT?" He looked around frantically, trying to find the source of the voice.
'Doth not worry, I shall not hurt thee.'
"How can I trust you?"
'I hast led thou this far with no punishment from the guardian. Shall this convince thou?'
"There's a guardian, wait don't answer that. Okay, if you say so, I will trust you but ONLY because this could be life-changing for me and I am willing to risk my life. Also, why the old tongue?"
'I join from long since, and join, there is not much time left to speak thee.'
The voice guided the young man until they reached a chamber in the deepest recesses of the cave.
When he arrived, the male was silent for a few minutes out of shock. The chamber was adorned with precious jewels and metals on every inch. Many treasures lined the walls and were even starting to overflow some containers they were put in. In the center of the chamber, a silver coffin lay on top of some steps. The glow seemed to originate from the coffin, and it also gave off an imperious aura.
'Step forward, and claim thy reward.'
"R-R-reward?! What r-reward? I haven't do-done anything to deserve all of this!"
