Remember to always stay strong, the journey you are about to face will not be an easy one. I pray my mistakes will give you guidance; It is said that In the natural order everything must have a beginning and an end to create a balance within the world. I may have met my end, but this if you so choose, could be your beginning. The Earth needs you now, so please take this to heart and complete that which I could not.

History of Our World

________________________________________________________________________________

Once this world was covered in land. The planet enjoyed peace and prosperity. Harvests were plentiful and animals roamed free. For a time there was peace on Caldone but peace would not last forever. The people of the surface as they were called began to grow greedy in their pursuit of wealth. They no longer enjoyed the natural beauty of the land. The heavens gave them everything and more but they were not pleased. Instead, they wanted more and more until they were consumed with the desire. This introduced the age of labor-saving devices which brought the  planet into a new era of technology. The new tech was demanding and hungrily gobbled up the natural resources of the surface; Great machines tore trees from the ground.Oceans were pillaged and land torn apart to feed the demand of the monstrous mechanical beasts.  But still, the people wanted more.

Years passed as the once lush and healthy plains of Caldone grew sick and infectious. The natural beauty of the land was gone, the surface was truly dying. Unrest over the decline in wealth grew among the people as the environment crumbled around them. Wars broke out as people fought in a tangled struggle to reclaim the last pieces of a torn society. Bombs fell in great blasts of smoke and destruction. Many lives were lost as the surface grew grotesque with trenches of barbed wire and expanses of mass graves. The lingering smell of death hung in the air as an ominous reminder of what had been lost.

The heavens could condone no more. With a mighty crack of ear piercing magnitude a mighty  earthquake shook the very core of Caldone.  People screamed out in terror as the once mighty land mass cracked and shattered into a mass of rubble. It rained as the sky opened and the heavens cried for the loss of the surface; Water flowed in streams of purifying destruction, flooding the shattered mess of Caldone, filling the surface with an ocean of sacred tears.; In one big display of heavenly destruction the land was gone. Only a single small island of rubble remained bobbing in the waves. It was grey in completion with a dirty oil smell that clung everything around it. The island was barren and small, it had no resources to support the dismal human lives stranded upon its shores.

Many people died of starvation and disease, they could not adapt to a simpler way of life. In the end, only two people who were pure of heart could withstand these great struggles. Their names were mother Shia and the great farther Bathsham. They were the birthparents of a new age to come. The heavens in all their great mercy took pity on these mortals. As a gesture of newfound brotherhood between man and the planet, the heavens gifted our race  the ability of aquasite. It was a mutation in the genome of their children it gave the gift of invisible wings to saw beneath the waves of a new world.

Our new world grew in generations beneath the oceans surface. A new name was given to this aftermath of Caldone. It became known as The Great Deep; Life down here is different to that of Caldone. We have a bond with the deep, a sacred kinship with the life of this planet. The very core of our humble existence rests on the will of the ocean's bounty. Even mass storms in all their carnage are considered honourable blessings. They serve as reminders of the great benevolence of the heavens for giving our race a second chance in life; Not everyone respects the mistakes of the past however and have begun to grow greedy again. These people are shunned from our civilization and are forced to live alone in the shark lands. Our communities despite this are small and close-knit. We live in huge clusters of carbonised rock on the expanses of sand that stretch the lengths of the wide ocean; As per our custom, each year when a boy turns 18 it becomes his right to choose a home for himself. It is then that the large task of hollowing out his chosen rock begins. It is a painstaking task, boys take a much pride in it, some may take years to complete their own home. Only when it is complete is the boy considered a man. This whole right of passage thing gives him the right to ask the chief for a girl he may marry. Chief Monclair is the leader of our clan, it's his job to guide us in every aspect of our lives or so he says. He's a bit of a stuffy old man if I'm honest but he means well. He's also my dad so maybe I'm just biased. When it comes the time he has promised  that he'll make a good match for me.  I know he loves me but I'm not like all the other girls i don't want to be tied down, put in my place, i want to live to explore to be free.
