The bell finally rang, indicating that we should be moving on to the next lesson. I grabbed my things in a flash and walked out of the classroom. Not that I'm in a hurry, just that I needed to get away from her. That means..I'll be together with her in every lesson? Oh God. Our seats are permanent in any kind of lesson, for your info. Even P.E. The reason why I was bothered is that she keeps on staring at me, and opens her mouth from time to time, but wouldn't speak. It's...creepy. Seriously.
I arrived and sat down in my usual seat. In the corner back to the room. I placed both my elbows on the table and buried my face in my palms. I stayed like that for a while.
Haneul walked in and sat with me, of course. I faced her and ran my fingers through my hair. She smiled sweetly, but I didn't bother, so I just raised both my eyebrows and dropped them the next second and faced the board.
"So where do you live, JR?" She started a conversation.
I didn't even glance at her, "why should you know?"
She shrugged, "I just wanna know. Is that wrong?"
I faced her with a blank face, "yes. Too much curiosity brings sadness." Then my face became serious, "knowledge isn't always power. Sometimes it can be a burden."
She opened her mouth but paused, "you..you took that from Percy Jackson right? YOU ACTUALLY READ BOOKS?" Aigoo. This yeoja-____-everyone turned to look at us.
"What are you talking about?" I rolled my eyes and made a face. I leaned in closer to her face.
"Look, I'm gonna be straight with you now. I am the king of this school. The top of the social ranking of Pledis High. And yes, I love to read books. But that doesn't make me a geek. And you. You just came here. And I'm warning you, you don't wanna get too close with me. Understood?"
She seemed shocked. She gulped and slowly nodded. She rummaged through her bag and took out her textbook.
As if on cue, the teacher walked in and proceeded on the lesson.
