Kelsey's P.O.V
"Thanks for giving me a ride, guys!" I exclaimed as I got out of the car, which was currently parked in front of my house.
"Friends help friends," Amelia stated with her usual grin. "Of course."
I slung my backpack over my shoulder and waved, backing into my driveway. I heard the loud, suped up engine start up as the car pulled off, speeding away. I turned back around and walked towards my house.
The flowers that lined my front porch were in full bloom as the late summer sun's rays beamed down onto them. My house wasn't the biggest, but it wasn't the smallest either. It was a one-story, but it had plenty of room for me and my parents, due to the fact that I'm an only child.
I climbed up the front porch stairs and opened the door. When I did, I heard the excited barking of my little fur-baby.
"Ace!" I called, dropping my backpack carelessly onto the floor with a loud thud. "I'm home!"
I heard the tapping pawsteps of my beautiful dog approach. Ace's golden-brown fur shimmered in the light as he pranced around. He was a little dachshund with chocolate brown eyes and a beautiful personality, even more gorgeous than he was. His ears were extremely floppy, fluffy, and all-around adorable. His head seemed bigger than any other part of his body, and he had a crooked little tail, one of his defining features.
I got down onto my knees, my arms outstretched. Ace then rounded the corner, almost slamming into the wall in the process due to his extremely furry paws, and leaped into my arms.
"Hey Ace!" I exclaimed as the extremely energetic dachshund licked my face.
I gave him some loving pats on the head and ears. Ace seemed to love it, as he was panting nonstop and his little, crooked tail was wagging a hundred miles per hour.
"Settle down, bud!" I laughed, setting Ace onto the ground. "Want a treat?"
I stood up and walked over to the pantry where the dog treats were. I opened the container and heard Ace come speeding towards me. I grabbed a treat, which was shaped like a dog bone, and held it towards Ace. The hyper dog eagerly grabbed the treat from my hand, almost biting off my fingers in the process It seemed like he inhaled the treat.
"Good boy." I smiled at him, and he gave me a doggy smile in return.
I left the kitchen to Ace, who was enjoying his little snack, and went into the other room where I saw my dad on the couch.
"How was school?" Dad asked me when I walked into the living room. "I saw you come home with some friends."
"It was fine," I responded with a smile on my face. "I'm getting excited for the party tomorrow."
"You'll need to help with decorations tomorrow morning," he noted. "And snacks."
"I will," I responded, plopping myself down on the couch. "I'll go to the store later."
My dad turned on the television, and we watched it for a few minutes before I suddenly remembered. "Oh, I'm going to pick up one of my friends for the party since they can't drive and their parents are busy."
"Cool," Dad replied. "Which friend?"
"His name's Zach. He's new to the school," I stated. "He can't exactly see, so I'm trying to help him out."
He looked at me with a little grin on his face, seeming proud. "That's my girl, helping out someone else."
"Yeah, I just want to help out," I replied sheepishly, a bit embarrassed by it. It really wasn't a big deal to me.
