Finally, I make up my mind. Slowly, I creep over to the gates and climb over the fence. No one notices except for Mrs. Daisy, who narrows her eyes at me. "Shh," I whisper as I slink over to the dog. You can do this.

"Stop!" I command, sticking my thorns into the air for protection. The dog's eyes widen up and a whimper sneaks out. "You are not going to hurt my friends!"

All at once, the puppy jumps into the air and sprints out like a cheetah for the human's house. I sigh. My job here is done.

Suddenly the daisies start to chant "Hurray for Rosetta!" and circle around me with joy. I glance down at my roots to hide my smile.
