There's a time in life when it's all or nothing. Fight or Flight.
Eric Matthews, of course, would tell you all about the key factor- the adrenal gland. He would explain all about Adrenaline, pathologically, emotional triggers, physical triggers, any medical condition that could make you release Adrenaline when there is no physical need-- and if you're lucky, he would start explaining all about hormones and glands.
Well, he would tell you all of that if you got him drunk enough.
Otherwise, he would find the first way to insult you enough to make you scramble off and leave him alone in his office.
Someone knocked softly on the wooden door and didn't wait for an answer.
"Clinic duty."
Eric raised his bright blue eyes to the woman standing in front of him. The hospital's dean was a woman not much older than him, but much more polite and loveable. Her green eyes stared him down as he didn't answer, and before long she stepped into the office and shut the door behind her.
"You do know," he started with a thick Australian accent, messing his blond hair, "that you can't actually pierce me with your eyes."
"Matthews, I'd like to remind you this hospital isn't meant for you to have fun in it and brood in your office all day," she crossed her arms and hid away the floral button up shirt, leaving her white coat to cover the rest, reaching just above her knee, where the black skirt still had a few more centimeters to cover.
Annabel Bradley, Dean of Medicine, her tag said.
"It's not?" he wondered, grabbing the small tennis ball. "I was so sure it is. I'm confused then. If that is not the purpose of this hospital, what is it then?"
"Matthews, I've been putting up with you for years because you're the best around, but Dr. Cullen is here now and he's just as good as you are, does his job perfectly and treats patients like they are humans just like him." Doctor Bradley fixed her hair, "you know you're good, but now that I can do better, your veto is gone. One toe out of line, and you're fired."
He looked at her, surprised, "Why would you ever do that? I'm doing my job perfectly."
He stood up and walked out of the office, leaving her flabberghasted, as always
"Well, at least no comment about my breasts today," she mumbled to herself as she followed him to the elevator, about to head down along with and go to her office.
It opened with a ding, and they entered silently.
"By the way, Doctor Bradley," Eric started as the door opened again at the ground floor. "This shirt makes your breasts look firm. Or is it the pregnancy?"
She stared after him as he walked off, shocked yet not surprised.
"I am not--" she started, before giving up.
Eric took the first file and read through it before entering Exam Room 1. He wasn't the best around anymore, huh?
Well, just have to make sure the other doctor's out of the race.

uh
hi
so this is Eric's tale
he's an asshole with a lot of problems and i can't tell much more
but it won't be too long of a story
either way
those rude remarks are who he is
and you will see that when he is as rude as he is to someone as he is to Bradley it is only because he knows it's okay with them, and he has enough history with her to know she is not bothered by it, not really
he is rude and an asshole to everybody, but remarks like that he knows to keep to certain people
well anyway, he is a complex character and i don't expect most to like him
idk
