Days passed before the news got out. News reporters shouted their endless questions all at once-sounding like blabber to Michael's ears as he was being escorted down the entrance path to Rockwell High for the last time.

Two local negroes accepted to Rosewood High-school. The headline said in bold letters...the boldest they've ever been it seemed.

Every white parent called Rosewood High's main office demanding explanations.

" I enrolled my daughter into this school because it was always fine and well-grounded since I've been there but now it's going through the gutter!"

" No child of mine will go to school with a negro, are you saying that my child is as smart as a nigger now?"

" You can't allow this... it's just not sanitary! "

Call, after call, after call brought nothing but angry voices.

Flashes made Michael's eyes blink and the sound of the camera made him cringe even though he was wearing a mask that covered his entire face-like Mr. Charles ordered so his identity would be safe.

His stomach pained and his throat felt closed while his eyes wandered around hastily, only catching quick glances of the reporters' faces through the small spaces between the many men that shielded him.

Like a caged bird being poked at-although never touched.

Just when Michael entered the school-Tia arrived in Mr. Charle's car. Her and Makayla's eyes widening at the unexpected scene.

The reporters and guards all now rushing up to her as they exited the car like she was the finish line to their race.

She didn't realize how much commotion her sought for better education would be until now.

The guards making it to her first causing her to still flinch a bit while they surrounded her, covering her like a blanket.

" Everything's gonna be just fine sweetheart they don't know what you look like with that mask on." the base-like voice of one of the guards spoke as they escorted her.
