5. The Two

"I told you. You're amazing" said Marco after kissing my hand. He was still catching his breath. He left me speechless all of the time.

"I hate to leave you, but I must go now Senorita" He said. I was stuck to where I was standing and I felt that couldn't move and I couldn't speak. He walked away and before I lost sight of him, he turned around and smiled at me. "It's a pleasure dancing with you Veronica Cortez" He said. 

I spaced out after that....

"AHHH!!!" I blinked my eyes a couple of times when Via started shaking me and shouting in front of my face. "Vera! Vera! Vera! You. Were. Amazing!!!" she said. She kept on talking to me but I couldn't hear what she was saying. I couldn't believe that I danced in front of these people here. I couldn't believe that someone like Marco could make me dance like that...

"Via, I'm sorry, but I have to find him" I cut her off and left her in the crowded dance floor. I followed where he had passed but I didn't see him. I looked outside from the big glass window and I saw him and was about to leave with  his motorbike. 

I ran towards the main door of the mansion and was hoping that I could catch him before he leave.

I was already at the main door when he started his bike. "Marco!" I tried to call him but he didn't hear me. I quickly ran down the stairs hoping I could still catch him.

"Marco! Wait!" I tried to call him again, but he took off without even looking back. I felt disappointed about it. He just took off after our dance and left me.

I was just standing outside to get a fresh air and to get away from people inside. "Ms. Cortez" I heard a voice behind me. I turned around and saw Scott standing so firm. 

"Oh, hi Scott" I greeted with a smile. "Why aren't you inside? The party is just getting fun" He said. "I just needed to get away for a while" I replied.

There was a moment of silence between us and it was getting a little awkward again. "So, why are you here?" I said, breaking the silence, but I  wished I could take back what I asked. "The same as earlier, I am assigned here outside near the main door...  When you almost didn't get in because of me" he replied.

"Yeah sorry I forgot" I looked down, ashamed of myself. "What was I thinking?!" I thought to myself. "Why aren't you with Ms. Anderson. You are close" He asked. I looked up and there was it again. His blue gray eyes glistened from the moonlight.

"She's busy with her guests inside, but no worries, after the party, she said we'll go somewhere" I replied. "She haven't told me about where you two will go, but I assure you, I will try my best to be a version of Jackson" He said.

"I thought you'll start next week? Via told me about it" I asked. "There was a change of plans since Mr. and Mrs. Anderson needs Jackson ASAP" He replied while looking around the area. 

"Oh... Okay then. Well, I'll get back inside Scott. Via might be looking for me" I said to him. "Yes you should go. I will see you later Ms. Cortez" He replied while lowering his head.

"I told you to call me Vera" I smiled at him. "Vera" He replied with a smile

As I got inside, Via walked towards me. "Hi" She said while hugging me tightly. "Sorry if I'm so busy" She continued.

"Via, it's okay. don't worry about me. Go and take care of your other guests. I'll be fine" I assured her. "Okay, sorry to leave you again like this" she replied and took off. 

I sat down on where I ate dinner earlier and checked my phone. There was a message from Marco in my messenger.

"Sorry I left early. I had another event to attend. I would love to see you again soon"

I didn't know why but I felt happy when he didn't forget to contact me. I was smiling all the time just thinking about him, but when I looked around the room, I suddenly saw Scott at the door post looking at me.

I suddenly blushed and felt conscious looking back at him. Sadly, his eyes took off mine as he's doing his job. 

"Did he really look at me on purpose? Or was it just part of his job?" I thought to myself...
