Wes found that the library was calming. Cynthia still hadn't said anything to him since the incident in the field. There was many a-time where he would close his eyes just to see if by some lucky chance, she was talking about something he did which made her uncomfortable. Wes was sure, by that admitting to her that he was in the process of helping Sinnoh, that she would trust him. He knew she still had the instincts of a champion, and he figured that it would help. But alas, it did nothing. In fact, Wes was convinced she was now running from him.
He was now sitting down with a pile of books on engineering, Cresselia, amongst a number of things. He'd been pouring endlessly over legends, inventions, or just anything that could point him in the direction of a development. The lack of something new gnawed at the back of his mind and he began to read with a new level of frantic insanity.
From what he read, the Pokemon Cresselia was involved with the abolishment of bad dreams. Its counterpart, Darkrai, was the giver of nightmares. They were the Pokémon of legends, and records of their presence had been around since long before ancient Sinnoh. That much, however, was already clear to him. Wes recalled that he'd once read a reference to these pokemon in passing.
Their connection to the past didn't matter to him though. What Wes wanted was about was about the present. He wanted to know where all the links came from, and how he could get rid of them as soon as possible. He was scared. The thought of yet another crisis being caused by his actions was a heavy load to bear. Wes didn't want to have the load of Sinnoh's issues upon him. He already felt the stinging pain of being responsible for the crisis of the Orre region. It was because of his skill as a bad guy, that Rui ended up getting killed and his region almost destroyed.
The pressure was a lot for Wes. And he didn't know if he could do it without Cynthia.
He couldn't take it anymore, he needed to read about another topic. Wes dove into a book about Pokémon evolution. He began to read about stones and the fact that the energy they exhibit is beyond the measurement of modern tools. He read about the numerous amount of tests done to try to capture the energy, and the failures contained within laboratories. The only thing notable that scientists were able to discern, is that alternate types of energy were being eminated from stones.
Soon, he moved on to aura studies, which he found more useful. He read about the various theories of aura, one in particular sticking out to him, about how the ability to control aura was to connect one life to another. Maylene had told him that the rainbow aura he exhibited was a mark of divine protection, and so he wondered if the bond between him and Cynthia was supposed to protect him in some way.
The most interesting part of the book was the section about aura skills. Aura could be used to sense other auras. It could also be used to read the minds of those around oneself. Wes found it odd how these things sounded like the bond between him and Cynthia. Did that ritual perhaps link their auras?
He went on to read. There were passages of using aura as a fighting skill, and being able to track others based on their aura. Wes was fascinated. He wondered if he could do these things through their bond. But those weren't the things he cared about the most. The most interesting passage was about the manipulation of time.
The most powerful aura wielders of all time were rumored to have been able to use their aura to affect time. Some could stop time, but more important to Wes, some could see the flow of time. And this, was what hit at the heart. If him and Cynthia were able to use their rainbow aura, could they see into the future and get more clues? It seemed like an idea worth trying.
But he had to find Cynthia first.
"Wes!" Byron shouted from a distance. The vigilante pretended not to hear him.
