"Bye mom! Bye dad!" I yelled before walking out the door.

I adjusted my white button up, making sure it was tightly tucked into my plaid skirt. Nice and neat.

I walked to my car, nothing fancy. Just a Ford Fusion. It gets me where I need to be. It was in White Gold. And I thought it looked great. Not too plain but definitely not flashy.

I drive the 15 minutes to school and park In the same spot I do, everyday. The second row from the building, eighth spot over.

"Emalynne!" My best friend knocks on my window to get me to unlock the car. I do so, and she climbs in the passenger seat. "Hi."

"Hey Madison."

"So did you finish Chem homework?" She asked. I rolled my eyes and fished out my notebook that I keep all my homework in, and flip to the pink tab that I have labeled for Chemistry.

Pink- chem
Yellow- math
Green- English lit
White- anatomy
And blue for any other misc I might have.

Very organized.

She copies it down- not exactly so Mr. Ken won't make the obviously conclusion that Madison is coping my homework. Even though he knows, He's watched her do it a few times.

She hands it back with a smile and a thank you, and I nod, shoving it neatly back into my bag.

"wanna come over after school?" Maddie asks.

"I can't. I have work then I'll probably have homework," I say, "maybe tomorrow."

"Okie doke."

At 7:55am, we hop out of the car to be in class by 8am. Never late. Never early. I'm always right on time for everything.

I have OCD. But like, not bad. Not that having OCD is bad at all... But I like everything neat. And I have tendencies.. Like, I lock my doors 3 times. And I take 3 steps at a time. If there is 10 stairs, it makes me anxious and I will usually use try to get an excuse to use the handicap elevator.

My first class is Math. Ms. Blake is one of my favorite teachers. She's very lenient and isn't too harsh on anyone.

"Good morning class."

The lesson is short and sweet. Easy to write down and understand. I make sure I have everything written down when she's done, and now assigning homework.

This is the boring part. Let's skip it..

School goes by fast, considering it is Monday. I meet up with Maddie in the parking lot and catch up before heading to the Diner for my shift.

Gabby's Diner. Run by and older lady, Ruth, who adopted the diner from her mom, Gabby. She didn't want to change the name, seeing how this place has been running since my grandma was young.

"Hello dear." She greets me as I rush past her to the lounge to change into my uniform.

I strip and put on my dark skinny jeans, and my maroon shirt with the logo on it. Then tie my hair up into a ponytail and straighten out my glasses. I tuck my school clothes into my bag and hang it on the Hook.

I grab an apron and my pens and stuff and tie it around me.

"You have tables 3-8. I have 1-2, then 9-12." Ruth informs me. It only really takes two working the tables. Dinner rush isn't that bad as long as you k ow what youre doing.

"Sounds good."

I grab a wash cloth and make sure my tables are clean and shiny.

I hear the bell ring and see a group of guys come in..
"I got it, Ruth." I smile to her. "Gentlemen, I can seat you here."

I call them over to the bigger booths. The 5 of them sit and I pull out my book, and my favorite Pen. I circle the pen on the top of the paper three times and then look at them.

"What can I start y'all off with to drink?" I ask.

"Mountain dew." one of them says. Three of them agreed, and the other one wanted a coke.

"Coming up. I'll be back with your drinks shortly." I give a polite smile, even though they look like.... Criminals.

I don't judge. Usually. But... Leather jackets. Black books. Chains.. Loooooots of tattoos.

I swing open the doors and get their drinks.

"They're a nice bunch" ruth says smiling.

"Sure. Momma says it isn't polite to judge someone without knowing them." I grab my tray and smile at Ruth as I make my way back out. Just as the bell rings again above the door.

"Take a seat whenever you would like, I'll be with ya in a moment." I smiled to my momma and dad. They come in once in a while. "Alright gentlemen, your coke, and your guys mountain dews. Are you ready to order or still need time?"

I'm assuming the main guy... The leader? Idk, the guy with the coke, speaks, "burgers. Everything. Fries. Loaded. No jalapeño on any of them."

"Anything else?"

"That's all, doll." he smirks at me.

"It'll be about 15 minutes." i smiled and put in their order then go to my moms table. "Hey momma."

"Darlin'." Momma says.

"Hey pumpkin. How was school?" My dad asks.

"Fine, I've got homework though." I scrunch my nose in distaste. I write their usual orders and put them in as well then just wait.

I delivered my orders and gave them each their tickets, and took other orders.

I seen leader boy heading to the counter to pay, so I made my way over there.

"That'll be $27.89." I said.

He slid a $50 across the table.
"The change is yours to keep, dollface. Ill see you around."

"Thank you" I blushed.

He just winked before leaving with his friends.

**

"I'll close, you go home Ruth." I said as I lifted the last chair onto the table. "Don't worry about it."

"Thank you dear. have a good night." She walked out, letting in a brief blast of cool air.

I took off my apron and changed my clothes and stuff. I made sure the counters were clean and everything before grabbing my bag, and locking the door behind me.

I pushed on it just to be sure it was locked, then started walking down the street to where I park my car. in the back alley.

Being as it was 11 at night, my walk was brisk and hurried.

I pressed the unlock button and got in, then pressed the lock button. I let out a long sigh, then started my car.

As soon as my lights came on, I see a group of guys standing in front of my car.. Each carrying a weapon of choice. A baseball bat. a crowbar. A freaking ax. A knife. And the last one.. Nothing in his hands, but I doubt he was empty.

I didn't know what to do, the way I was parked, I had to go forward to get onto the street..
