I rub against a snow covered boulder which lies along our border. "All clear!" I announce trotting after my patrol. "What next?" Oakcloud mews looking at me expectedly. I hesitate before giving out my command. "Uh, let's go back to camp. Azureclaw's hunting patrol should be back by now." Everyone nods looking rather happy. Im glad I made the decision.
...
"How was your first time leading a patrol?" Rosepaw looks at me eagerly. "Good," I simply reply taking a bite from a fresh vole Azureclaw's patrol caught. "Was there traces of Swiftclan scent? Rogue scents? Did you have to chase off someone?" Rosepaw demands, excitement making her voice high pitched. "No," I take another bite from the vole looking up to catch Silenthowl gazing at me. I quickly look down avoiding eye contact. Rosepaw seems to notice for she has a smirk played on her face. "Silenthowl I need your help with this move," Rosepaw calls him over. I glare at her, trying my best not to sink my claws into her throat. Silenthowl hesitantly makes his way over to us, though from the look on his face I could tell he wanted to be here.
I glare at my half eaten vole as if it's the most interesting piece of pray I've ever seen. "So I have this move I made up, but it seems a bit lame. Could you tell me if th-," Rosepaw suddenly stops babbling. "I think I hear someone calling my name in the apprentice den." She sprints off, looking back at me with a grin. I hiss quietly in return.
"Did you hear anyone call her name?" Silenthowl mews in confusion. "No, she is just hearing things," I mutter taking a bite from the vole. An awkward silence passed in between us. Silenthowl sighs sitting next to me. "You don't mind?" He asks with a flick of his torn ear. "No your fine," I answer softly. We sit together in silence, our flanks brushing against eachother. "Is Rosepaw coming or what?" Silenthowl mutters under his breath. "No, she set us up," I sigh. Silenthowl blinks in confusion, "What?" He shifts his weight, clearly comfortable. I nod slowly avoiding eye contact. "I saw you watching me," I blurt out foolishly. His whiskers twitch, but he stays silent for a while.
"Lynxmoon," Silenthowl growls, his eyes piercing through me. "What?" I blink in confusion. Did I say something wrong? He was relaxed a moment ago, now he seems ready to attack someone! Suddenly I notice he isnt sitting beside me, rather slipping out of camp. I follow him quietly, afraid of what I'll see. Maybe he is just taking a stroll? I pause remembering the golden flame in his eyes. No, definitely not taking a stroll. I follow his scent trail, not aware of my surroundings. "I passed Savageclan territory a long time ago," I mumble, feeling home sick and lost. I pause to take in the strange territory. Am I lost?
