A couple weeks ago, Beverly had finished telling a joke that made Eddie laugh so hard, he snorted, which made Richie laugh at Eddie. When Richie laughed, his hand covered his mouth. That's about when Eddie noticed something was off about Richie.
A couple days after that, Richie began to laugh less, joke less. Eddie was growing more and more concerned over Richie. This also just so happened to be the time Richie began to acknowledge his feelings for Eddie. He began to even get anxious around him.

It was a Friday night and the losers club were sleeping over at Bills house. Bev got there a little after midnight, just because of her dad. The gang was joking and laughing around, except Richie, who was sat the furthurst away from everyone else, focused on watching the clock. Eddie was pretty sure everyone else had noticed Richies quietness over the past couple weeks, but no one really knew why, or wanted to ask why. They were all just hoping their good ole' Richie would be back any day now.
As they grew more and more tired, they all began to fall asleep, one after the other. Soon enough, it was only Richie and Eddie left awake.

"Richie?" Eddie whispered, hoping Richie heard.
"What's up?" He whispered back.
"Can we go for a walk?"
And with a few rustling sounds, the two had successfully gotten up without waking the others. They walked downstairs from Bills room and put on their shoes and left quietly.

The fresh air was a nice relief for the two boys.
They walked in silence for a couple moments, before Eddie broke the silence.
"Are you okay?" Eddie asked, trying to sound as nice as possible. To Richie, it sounded like the most sencere thing he's heard in forever. Richie couldn't bare to say anything, in fear of breaking down. His mind was all over the place recently, his confidence low.
"It's okay if you're not..." Eddie looked at Richie, who seemed to be tearing up a bit.
"You've been quiet lately... so you know, if something's wrong."
Richie stopped walking and sat on the sidewalk. He brought his hands up to cover his face and began to cry.
Eddie didn't really know how to act, he's never seen Richie this vulnerable. He sat next to Richie and awkwardly put his arm around him.
"Do... Do you wanna talk about it?"
"It's- It's-" Richies voice cracked, sniffling between words.
"I can't afford braces, and-" Richie was stuck on the sentence for a bit, his voice shaking.
"It's okay." Eddie tried to reassure him.
"I fucking hate my teeth, you know? They're awful- They're crooked, and just- fuck." Richie sniffled, wiping his tears with his sleeve. He sounded so frustrated. Eddie just listened to him rant, since it seemed like he had to get it out of his system.
"I love your teeth, Rich." Is all Eddie could really say. Richie was sniffling like crazy.
"Who even cares about teeth?" Eddie asked. Richie looked up ag Eddie. "Bev doesn't. Neither does Bill, or Stan. Neither does Ben." Eddie said, trying to convince Richie his teeth looked fine.
"I feel like they're all anyone ever sees." Richie said, taking breaks to breathe inbetween words.
"No one's paying attention to your teeth. They're paying attention to your jokes." Eddie really wanted to say 'and your cute face' but now didn't feel like appropriate timing.
"Anyone who says anything about your teeth, is just an idiot." Eddie heard a small laugh from Richie.
"Don't let this bother you, I miss the good ole' Richie who made an insane amount of inappropriate jokes, with the loudest laughs."
Richie actually began to feel better.
"I love your smile." Eddie said, feeling his face warm up a bit.
"Thanks, Eddie spaghetti." Richie sniffled.
"Wanna head back to Bills?" Eddie asked.
Richie nodded.
The two got up, and before they started to walk back to Bills house, Richie hugged Eddie.
Richie felt so loved. He tightened his grip around Eddie and felt Eddie hug him back. The two let go of the hug.
"That was... gay." Richie said, forcing a laugh.
The two began to walk back.
"Eds, can I tell you something?" Richie asked, a tint of fear in his voice.
"Yeah?" Eddie looked at Richie
Richie took a deep breath and made eye contact with Eddie. "I like you..." Richie said, breaking their eye contact immediately after.
Eddie turned red and swallowed, looking ahead.
"I like you too."
"...Cool" Richie said
"Cool..." Eddie replied

As the two arrived at the house, they made their way up to Bills room quietly. They decided to sleep next to eachother on the floor.
"Goodnight, Rich."
"Goodnight, Eds."
