BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
I groggily looked over at my alarm clock.
"SHUT UP!"
I attempted to throw a pillow at it but it missed. BEEP! BEEP!-
The next thing I knew a blast of electricity blew up my alarm clock.
"Well that's one way to do it." I got up along with Plusle and Minun and got ready for school. I took a quick shower and changed into my usual ranger clothes which were black spandex/shorts, a red T-shirt with a pokeball in the middle, my black converse, a red pokewatch, and my black fingerless ranger gloves. I curled my long brown hair which reached my waist and I placed my signature red bow in the back of my hair. I got my black traveling bag and my suitcase and everything together and rushed down the stairs with Plusle and Minun right on my trail. I ran into the kitchen to see my mom waiting for me with watery eyes.
" Mom what's wrong?" I rushed over and gave her a hug.
"Nothing just my baby is growing up on me. Serena just look at you. You're taller than me now!"
"Well I am 15"
She sighed and glanced down at my partner pokemon.
"Now you two keep out of trouble!"
"Plusle!"
"Mi-Mi!"
"Please be safe dear. The world is a crazy place filled with dangerous things."
I laughed.
"Don't worry. With these two bad boys who will scare everyone in our way nothing can go wrong."
My mom laughed and handed me a small box.
"Here I think it's time I gave you this. I was given this when I was a small girl by my mother. What ever you do, do not lose it or give it away. It's very important to our family heritage."
I looked down at the necklace in the box. It had a beautiful red sapphire looking ruby in the middle. I put the necklace around my neck and got my bags and started out the door.
"I love you mom and I promise to call you everyday!"
With that I took off running with my bags down the road between Veintown and the Ranger School. Plusle and Minun were following me in pursuit. Wild flocks of Starly flew to tree to tree and cute little Buneary happily roamed the dirt path. I looked up and saw above the tree line was the Ranger School. My stomach began to flutter with excitement as I thought about the future to come. Its been about time that I finally enrolled in the top Ranger School in the world. My dad was a Legendary Pokemon Ranger known worldwide; probably the best in the books. I'm supposed to follow in his footsteps. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him. I felt a little nudge on the side of my cheek. "It's alright Plusle I'll be fine."
I looked around noticing a lack of presence. "Where's Minun?"
"MI MI!"
I heard my pokemons cry but it wasn't normal. Something is wrong. I dashed off towards the sound of his cry and ran into a tiny clearing behind some bushes. Laying in the field crying was a Bidoof. Minun was trying to calm the poor thing down. I quickly ran over to help. The Bidoof was sweating and thrashing wildly.
"Hey it's alright buddy calm down. We're here to help you."
The pokemon ignored me. The pain was blinding it from its surroundings. In all my life I have never seen a pokemon in so much pain.
"It's gonna be okay please hang in there."
I scanned it's body and saw a tranquilizer dart with dark purple liquid injecting into the pokemon.
"Plusle I need you to go find help. Now go!"
Plusle dashed off into the bushes. I hastily rummaged through my bags. I tried giving him some berries but none worked
"Uh-um shoot! Where is it!"
I finally found my full heal. I sprayed it on the pokemon. For a moment I thought it had worked. My eyes connected with the Bidoofs and just like that they clouded back up with a reddish glaze. By now I was panicking. If something wasn't done then this innocent pokemon would die. I quickly picked the pokemon up in my arms and took off towards Veintown. I knew there was a Ranger Base there and hopefully they would help. As I was sprinting, I blindly ran into a body and fell to the ground making sure I didn't land on the sick pokemon. I looked up to see Plusle with a boy maybe a year older than me. By the looks of it he was a Ranger.
"Please help me I found this terribly sick pokemon in the forest and nothing is healing it!"
The boy took the Pokemon from me.
"This is the 6th one this week."
The boy pulled out what I assumed was his styler and activated it.
"Capture on!
He encircled the Bidoof twice until it seemed to finally calm down.
"Capture complete!"
I looked at the Bidoof and the pain seemed to have subsided.
"That's should have taken the pain away but he's still very weak from battling it."
I finally took the time to look at the boy. He had brown hair and brown eyes. He wore his Ranger clothes and his eyes blazed with strength and determination.
"I'm Keith. I'm from the Ranger Base in Veintown. Where are you from?"
"Oh I'm not from around here- I mean I'm not a full Ranger yet. I'm starting to attend the Ranger School here. I'm Serena by the way. And these are my Partner Pokemon Plusle and Minun."
Keith shook his head.
"That's impressive what you did back there. Most Rangers in training don't know how to handle a situation like that until they have almost graduated. Heck some Rangers back at base don't even know what to do!"
"I did what my instincts told me to do that's all."
He looked at me carefully.
"You know the Rangers back at base would probably like to meet you. It's kinda rare to find someone as new like you who has a lot potential."
I thought about it.
"Well it's a great offer but I think I should go to Ranger School."
Keith nodded his head.
"I understand. Tell Mr. Larmont you are a friend of mine!"
With that he took off on a Staraptor with the Bidoof in his arms. I looked down at my partner pokemon.
"Well at least that Bidoof will be okay now."
I looked at my pokewatch. "Oh great we're going to be late!"
And just like that we continued running down the dirt road towards The Ranger School.
