Before we get started, I have a few announcements. First, I am deeply sorry for not updating since Febuary. Second, I am taking a slightly lighter approach to this chapter. I would appreciate any feedback as to where we should go next. Should there be more action? More romance? More blood, guts, and eyeballs? How about more smexy scenes? Please tell me. Don't be shy.

Okay, that's all for right now. On to the story!

"You took more than one," I complained.

"It's not my fault! They were stuck together," Jeff retorted.

"Ugh, fine. Put one back," I told him, lifting up the stack of playing cards. Jeff plucked a card out of his hand and pushed it into the center of the stack. I put the stack back in its place on the table and looked at him. I had a winning hand and I was waiting for Jeff to make his move before I could play it.

"Happy now?" he said, looking at his cards with a sigh.

"No, you're taking forever with your turn."

Jeff discarded an eight of spades and I quickly drew it and threw it on my neatly arranged fans of cards as I said, "Rummy."

I drew up one more card from the stack and played my cards before discarding and crossing my arms. "I win again."

Jeff laid his cards on the table and lowered his head in defeat. "I give up."

"Now bow down to your king and beg for mercy," I commanded as I stood up and smirked at him. He looked up at me, stuck out his bottom lip with a pout, and got down on the floor at my feet. But rather than bow, he just stared up at me. "Well?" I asked, growing impatient.

"Yes, Your Majesty," he said as he kowtowed. I smirked and lightly placed my foot on his head.

"Who is the best?" I asked, smugly. "Say it."

As soon as the words were out of my mouth, Jeff grabbed my ankles and my feet were swept out from under me. I fell to the floor with a thud and before I could recover, Jeff crawled on top of me and smirked. I stared into his eyes, half afraid of what he was planning to do. Then he spoke.

"You're the best," he told me, quietly. I blushed at his closeness to me. To make it worse, Jeff kissed my nose before getting up. My blush deepened and I rubbed my nose vigorously as I sat up. Jeff offered me his hand and I took it, letting him help me up.

"So now that that's over with, what do you feel like doing?" I asked.

"I don't know. You kind of crushed my will to live with your card-playing skills," he said with a shrug. "It's getting a bit late. I think I'll go to bed."

"Well fine, you big baby. Go sulk," I said. "I'm going to get cleaned up."

"Okay. See you when you get out," he said, retreating to the bedroom. I followed him and opened the dresser drawer, retrieving clean clothes. I glanced at Jeff, who had sprawled on the bed, before exiting the room and going to the bathroom. I locked the door and turned on the shower. I took off my clothes and got in the shower, letting the water pour over my head. I placed my hand on my chest where the cuts were beginning to scar over. The pain had faded quite a bit and they didn't hurt unless I prodded at them.

I furrowed my brows at the memory of how I had received them. He could have killed me. I looked around the shower, remembering what happened in it with a pink face. He could have fucked me.

I shook my head as I got out and dried off. I stared in the mirror at the tired expression looking back at me.

"He could have done so much," I muttered to myself, turning around and leaning my back on the sink. "So why didn't he?"

After I had gotten dressed and exited the bathroom, I slowly made my way to Jeff's bedroom. I stopped in the doorway and looked in on the sleeping man. I contemplated whether I should sleep in here or on the couch again.

Before I could make up my mind, Jeff stirred and sat up, lifting his eye mask to stare at me sleepily. I froze, idiotically hoping he didn't notice me. He looked at me in confusion.

"Well, aren't you coming?" he asked, beckoning me with his arms outstretched.

I reluctantly made my way over to him. He drew back the sheets when I neared the bed, gently taking hold of my arms and pulling me onto the bed next to him. I covered myself up and closed my eyes as I laid down. Jeff remained sitting up for a minute before shuffling around and laying his head down on the pillow next to mine. I felt his arms wrap around my stomach before he pulled me closer to him so we were pressed together. I stiffened when I felt his warm breath on my neck.

"You're quiet," he whispered. "Are okay feeling okay?"

"I'm fine. Just go to sleep," I replied, lazily patting his face.

"That's my line," he snorted, nuzzling his face into my hair. "You go to sleep."

"I'm trying to, but there's an idiot talking in my ear," I said, smiling.

"Excuse you!"

"Shut up, salad ass," I commanded, playfully.

"Fine, bitch muffin," Jeff giggled and kissed my neck, making me open my eyes and look at him.

"What did you just call me?"

"Bitch muffin," he said with a wide grin. "Very befitting, don't you think?"

"Fuck off," I laughed, shoving him away from me.

"I'm kidding," he replied, tackling me.

"I know," I said, adjusting the sheets and snuggling into my pillow. Jeff didn't miss a beat, settling back on the bed and pulling me against his chest.

He kissed my forehead and said, "Good night, bitch muffin. Go to sleep."

"Good night, asshole."

I woke up in the middle of the night from a horrible nightmare that I was being chased around by a million giant chihuahuas with rabies. I was about to go back to sleep when I realized that Jeff wasn't holding on to me anymore. I felt around in the darkness and found that he wasn't even in the bed with me.

I got out of bed and turned on the lights. I winced at the sudden brightness, but when my eyes had adjusted, I didn't see him anywhere in the room. I walked towards that bathroom and opened the door. Jeff wasn't in there either. Where did he go?

I looked throughout the entire cabin and there was only one result: Jeff wasn't there.

I went to the door that led outside. It was still locked. I looked out the window and saw a figure in the distance; two of them, actually. I couldn't tell who or what they were, but all I knew was that they were approaching the cabin.

That's all for now, sweethearts. I left this one with a nice spicy plot twist and a cliffhanger. It looks like things are getting a bit spoopy up in here. What's going to happen to our smol bean Reese? Well, I don't know. We aren't in the next chapter yet. But we'll see.
