Lily and Alice had tears pouring slowly down their faces. Hermione knew that there really was no other way to tell them, but she also knew that this was no way to find out.

“I know that this is a shock to you-“ Hermione tried to explain, but Sirius cut her off.

“A shock?” he snarled. “Who the bloody hell are you to tell us that we’re all going to have a shit future and then say ‘I know this comes as a shock’? How do we even know that you’re telling the truth?”

“Down, boy,” muttered Remus under his breath. “The angry dog side of you is showing.

“I – I can prove it, if you would let me,” Hermione looked near tears at Sirius’s outburst. The man that she had known may have been moody, but he never snapped at anyone. Intentionally.

Lily had dried her tears and focused once more on Hermione and Ron. “Please, show me some proof. I need to know.”

“Maybe we should explain the situations before we show you our memories,” Ron suggested. “It might make the shock a little less.”

“And yes, I know that it will be hard to hear,” continued Hermione, “but that’s why we came back in time. So that we can get to know every single one of you and so that the future happenings can be prevented.”

“I agree with the young man in front of me,” said Frank. “Sorry, son, but you never mentioned your name.”

“Sorry,” Ron said sheepishly. “My name is Ron Weasley. Yes, I am Molly and Arthur’s son, no I am not the last child.”

“Now that’s dedication to the pureblood line,” James muttered to Sirius, who snickered.

“Can you start with t-the first p-person that the w-war affects?” Alice asked, hiccupping over her words.

Hermione nodded and gave a slight smile. “Well, I should point out that this doesn’t just affect you lot,” she began. “Frank and Alice, you have a son named Neville. He’s one of our best friends and one of the bravest Gryffindors that I have ever known.”

“A son?” said Frank looking slightly dazed.

Hermione gave a grim smile. “Neville never really got to know you because you were tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange for information about the Order of the Phoenix.”

“I should have known that my family would have a part in this somehow,” Sirius mumbled. “Hey Prongs?”

“What, Padfoot?” James answered with a sigh. “If you ask for food, I’m going to tie you to that chair. You nearly cleaned out the cupboards the last time you were over here!”

Sirius looked put out. “Don’t you have something that a Padfoot could have?”

“Hermione, please continue,” said James, ignoring the pouting Padfoot.

“Where did Neville grow up?” Alice asked, trembling.

“He grew up with his grandmother,” said Ron. “But he was probably better off than your son, Lily and James.”

Lily looked up to Ron, her face fearful. “What happened to my baby?”

“Harry Potter became a legend on October 31, 1981 when Peter Pettigrew betrayed you both to Voldemort and he came to Godric’s Hollow,” said Hermione.

“Did you say that Peter betrayed them to Voldemort?” Remus asked, shocked. “There’s no way! He always adored James and Lily! James was one of his heroes at school! The other one was Padfoot!”
