The anticipation was killing Violet. The thought of traveling to the rival's territory sent shivers down her spine. She knew that Venus was plenty bigger and much more advanced, but the people of Mars were ruthless, and showed no mercy.
She sucked in a deep breath as her assistant, Natalie, zipped up her tight silver suit. As much as the girl hated the suit, Violet knew it was for the best while traveling through space.
She was escorted through various tunnels and into a spacious rocket, decorated with various green succulents that contrasted against the silver metallic color of the walls. There was a large blue carpet covering the majority of the room, and two doors, one on the North end, and one on the South end. There were a couple tan couches with blankets laid across them, and books spread on the coffee table in between them. Violet took notice of the art work hung up around the room, some vary detailed work of the rings around her home planet, yet there were no windows at all. She sat comfortably on a plush chair, waiting for the pilot to take off.
He then, as if on cue, entered the large room and nodded at Violet. "There's a kitchenette a few rooms over if you get hungry." He stated.
"Awesome, Thank you... Rick?" She read off his name tag.
"That's me, enjoy yourself." He left the room, leaving Violet in her own thoughts.
About the minutes later, Violet felt the rocket start with a small jolt, making her stomach lurch a little. She eventually got used to the feeling, just as the rocket lifted off into the atmosphere, and blast off in the direction of Mars.
The girl sighed, got off the couch and caught her balance, then walked through the door to find the kitchenette. The next room over was dark, but she could feel the spaciousness of it. There were low murmurs of a language she couldn't understand, but the voices seemed frustrated. She ran her hands over the wall to find the switch, then flicked on the lights.
There were three creatures in the middle of the room. They were each small and squat, with three to five small antenna's poking out of their extremely round heads. They each looked at her, with large pink eyes, and she saw how their skin, gray and metallic, glittered in the lights. One creature, with three antenna's, bowed. The others followed, then marched behind the first one as they filed out of a door in the far right back right of the room.
Violet shrugged it off, and turned the other door, walking through it. There she found a small room, with a small kitchenette and dining table with 2 chairs, one on each end. When she opened the fridge, she found one large red apple. Violet took it out, and buy right into it. She sighed as the sweet taste of the fruit hit her tongue, it's been so long since she's had real fruit.
Since Venus was so advanced. they found ways for the air they breathe to be the nutrients the people receive. The people once feasted every day, then soon grew tired of it. They became too busy to cook up large meals every day and eat those meals too. So, they figured out a way for the oxygen to have each vitamin and nutrient people need in order to live. After this invention, they had more time to work and spend time with family.
To be honest, Violet missed the sweet crunch of a carrot and the sweetness of ice cream. But she knew the new oxygen bettered her people, and that was more important.
She finished the apple, tossing the core into the trash pit, and searched the kitchenette for more exotic foods. Violet was in absolute awe. Kales, raspberries, carrot galore. The fridge was packed with wonderful fruits and veggies. So there she ate, crunching on the carrots and sipping orange juice until the ship landed.
Violet threw her garbage into the trash pit and scurried to the room she was first introduced to, where she was led off the ship into the dusty hot air of Mars. She instantly started fanning herself, the heat making it hard for her to breathe. It was also very dusty, and she could feel the particles gathering in her lungs. How would she ever be able to live here? She didn't know. She guessed she would gain a tolerance after a while.
"Hello, Violet," A woman in a red trench coat said, snapping her out of her thoughts.
"Hello, it's great to be here," Violet replied when all she wanted to ask was how the woman could wear such a thing in weather like this.
The woman nodded. "We're glad to have you. I'm Georgia, and here is your tour guide." Georgia then leaned in and whispered, "I'm sorry we couldn't find anyone better, she's all we had."
"Hey! I heard that." Said the prettiest voice Violet has ever heard. She looked at the girl speaking and was immediately in awe. The girl was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans, and a brown leather jacket (very inappropriate clothing for this occasion).
"Emma! I thought I told you to change!" Georgia scolded. "I'm so disappointed!"
The girl shrugged and looked down.
"No. She looks nice." Violet smiled and held out her hand to the girl. "I'm Violet."
The girl smiled, shaking Violets hand. "I know who you are, we all do. I mean -fuck I sounded creepy. I mean, you're pretty popular around here and we all know you're here to marry that ass- I mean guy. I'm very happy for you-" She stopped herself. "I'm rambling, aren't I?" Violet giggled. "Damn it, I'm sorry. I'm Emma, I can't wait to take you around."
Violet couldn't wait either.
