"According to Google Maps, there are ten minutes left until we reach our final destination." The taxi driver says in a very robot-like manner.

"WHOOPA!" I holler loudly, not only startling Liza into consciousness but flinging my phone across the car as well.

It smashes screen-first into the window and I don't need a scientist to tell me that it's cracked. Oh well. The real problem would have been if that window was open, you see.

"Aurelie!" Liza half yells, half growls.

"Hmmm?" I respond, not looking up as I try to examine the damage done on my 8+.

"Control yourself!"

"I'm afraid I can't do that."

"You littl-"

"5 more minutes!!!!"

"Mommyyyyyy.."

Liza looks up exasperatedly from her phone screen. "What do you want?"

"Look..", I show her my smashed screen, " it's broken."

"I wonder why... throwing it at a window obviously won't do any damage. Is that even possible?"

"I'm serious Liza!" I begin to whine, " I can't use it like this!"

"Boohoo." Liza says, clearly getting bored of this conversation.

"Pieces of glass are getting into my skin!"

"Wear gloves."

"It's too hot for that!"

"Then don't wear gloves."

"But glass, skin, hellooo?"

"Hi."

"Liza!! Just say you'll fix my screen."

"I won't."

"Why not?"

"Cuz' you're a loooooooserrrrrrr"

I hit her shoulder.

"Ow! Ok..ok. I'll get your screen fixed - just put those hands away."

"Are you ready?" Liza asks as she searches deep in my eyes for a genuine answer.

For this exact reason, I refrain from making eye contact. I don't want Liza to know that I'm not ready. She'll get too concerned and won't leave me alone and keep trying to make sure I'm ok.

But I will be, I'm just nervous. That's all.

With a quick intake of breath, I respond with ,"More ready than I'll ever be," along with the brightest smile I could muster up.

The truth is, I'm not ready. How am I supposed to be ready? I'm in a foreign country meeting foreign people that didn't even know about my existence until I made my debut on Liza's channel and now I'm a part of their family?

It would be strange if I was ready.

"Okay, then. Let's do this." Liza says as the taxi comes to a halt at the front of a very homely looking house. It's painted in white's and yellow's and dark curtains draped over the windows from the inside.

The three of us exit the cramped car where I spent at least the last 5 hours. While waiting for the suitcases to be unloaded by Liza and the driver, I refrain from going on my phone because looking at the messed up screen sends shivers down my spine and instead, I try to take in all the features of my new, temporary home.

I notice all the well-taken care of shrubs and flowers decorating the outside of the house, I notice some toys scattered all over the grass. I notice an old-fashioned looking chair rocking gently next to the door.

The whole atmosphere of the house just seems very welcoming.

I spend  few more minutes just accepting everything until Liza finally joins me with all the cases.

With one hand, I take some of the boxes and with the other, I cling onto Liza for dear life.

"This is it."
