"No! It's not Mapa! Mapa wouldn't do this!"

I watch as my mother and Liza exchange verbal blows, shoving me into an even deeper hole of unhappiness.

I instantly snap out of my nightmare, more like memory, upon hearing the driver speak. Instantly turning my face away from Liza, I furiously wipe my tears away.

Don't cry, Aurelie! Liza worries!!

Well, I can't help it!

Yes, you can! You're not that frail ten-year-old that you used to be!

I quickly breathe in, feel my eyes to make sure they're dry, and turn back to Liza.

"Uhh... Ms. Koshy, where did you say you were going again?" The taxi driver asks shakily.

Oh, boy. Not again. Why is that sentence and that tone so familiar?

Oh, yeah. It's because that's what the driver said last time we got lost. The time when I saw my mo-

You know what, no. I don't want to talk about that right now.

"Really, Liza?", I say exasperatedly," Where do you find these people? This is the second driver we've had that got us lost."

"Hey! It's not my fault! I don't go into their brains and weigh the possibilities that they'll get us lost. India is a confusing place, especially Kerala." Liza responds.

Turning to face the driver, she says again, " Number 3, Vypin Island, please."

"Umm... isn't Vypin Island in Kerala..?" The driver asks while itching under his chin nervously.

"Yes... which is exactly why we are in Kerala right now."

"We are in Kerala, right?" Liza asks through gritted teeth.

"Uh.." the driver starts as he looks down, typing something in on his phone," we will be in about 40 minutes." He finishes as he sets his phone down and pulls the gearshift to reverse.

Liza just closes her eyes and slams her back onto the seat.

Well, this sucks! I've got another 40+ minutes in this car! With no WiFi!

"Hey, Liza."

"Liza."

"Liza."

"Liza." I repeat as I continuously poke Liza's sleeping body.

"Liiiiiiiiiiza."

"Lililililililiza."

"Ms Elizabeth I-don't-know-your-middle-name Koshy."

I'm about to jab her shoulder again when she suddenly springs awake and grabs my finger to prevent me from darkening the already forming bruise.

"What?" She spits out in an icy tone.

I slowly retrieve my finger from her grasp, " I just wanted to ask if you could use your phone to hotspot me so I can watch some YouTube videos...."

"You left a bruise on my shoulder to ask me....that?" She asks as if in complete awe.

"Uh... yes?"

"And you want an answer." She confirms.

"Meh.. one would be nice."

She stares at me for a few seconds then... "No."

"What do you mean 'no' ?! It's not my fault I'm bored because I've been sitting in this car for half my lifetime because of the stupid driver you hired!" I respond, suddenly getting really angry.

She just stares at me for a solid minute or two as I study blank face for some sort of expression .

I notice some movement in her hand but she just turns her back to me and returns to Lalaland.

Oh boy, this is going to be a long remaining 35 minutes.

Someone tell my why it took a week and 5 days to write this excuse of a chapter.

Honestly my writing kinda sucks rn. I just need to get my magic touch back, I haven't written in like months so don't insult me.

About a thousand letters, 600 words, and 70 lines of rubbish in a single chapter.

New world record.
