So as you know hamsters are nocturnal.
I have always heard stories about how hamsters are lound and keep people up. I hear it is always because of the wheel. My problems envolved no wheel.
I got about 3-5 hours of sleep the first two nights with the hamsters. The wheel was not the problem though. Do know those water things that hamsters drink out of, well the one that came with the cage was so loud.
For some reason mainly Finch, but also Theo would drink what felt like forever. I woke up to it in the middle of the night and in the morning. It was so annoying. I really don't know if they even got in the wheel. The one that came with the cage just didn't work very well.
Two days after having them my Mom and I went to Petsmart. We bought a new wheel and bottle plus a few other stuff. The water thing was a lot quiter and the wheel was a silent one but I don't think they us it to often. They probably do at night but I don't know.
So the day after we bought the new stuff I babysat and slept at my cousins which brings us to today. Even though we had a fancy smancy water bottle it didn't work. No water was really coming out. The same problem had happened with the other one. I put water in their food bowl while I figured out the problem.
After some research I discovered you only should fill it 3/4 the way and not all the way. This is true so there is enough air for the whole process to work. I did just that and it works now. Theo and Finch woke up when I was fixing it and drank away.
Guess what I heard? No noise! I'm very happy that sleep with be in my favor.
So Saturday morning was the first time I didn't wake up to one of the tiny fluffs drinking water. I woke up to them nawing on bars which they do to wear down their teeth. That was at around 8 even though I wanted to sleep tell 10.
Good News!
I have been on fall break so I have been staying up late and then wanting to sleep in. Every morning they woke me up at about 8 or 9. The jokes on them cause on school days I wake up at 6:35.So there are my experiences with sleep so far. I will further update if needed. Stay tuned for the weird things hamsters love.
Adios!
Now that I think about it this is kindove a hamster blog.
