Redtail opened his eyes to the beams of light shining into his nest. Yawning,he crawled out of the small moss covered nest his mother had made him. Pushing his way through a dense bush that covered his nest,he was greeted by his pack mates play-fighting. Looking around the clearing he saw other chicks waking, along with falconers returning from a morning hunt.
The Elders sat on a nearby hollowed log sat against another tree draped by lichen and moss. The male falconers brought in a juvenile Dryosaurus for the elders, the chicks all ran to the feeding rock eagerly awaiting their meal. Three hens brought in two Aquilops tossing them onto the rock where the chicks quickly dug in. Once everyone was done eating, most usually went to warm spot to preen themselves. Falconers took the bones and usually lined their nests with them, placing the skulls on the rocks that sat outside their den. Redtail trotted to the stream that flowed through the clearing, and lapped up the cool water. Since it had been many moons since Redtails hatching,he had started growing vane feathers. knowing it was nearing the end of newtree he would start his training soon. Still though he was too young to leave the safety of the clearing and the hens, but maybe he would explore, just a bit. Redtail crept out of the clearing using the unoccupied mother rocks to leap onto the higher ground above. Ducking into a nearby fern he checked to see if anyone had noticed him. Once seeing it was safe he ran off into the forest. He was amazed by everything around him,it was all so new from the eyes of the Hatchling who had spent his entire life inside a clearing filled with nettle and bones. It was all so natural and fresh, he raced through the forest for what seemed like forever. He got to a point where the trees started diminishing,he slowed down realizing it was a cliff side. Looking into the sky it was filled with fantastic reds, pinks and oranges, much like some of the adults tails. In the distance he saw a mountain shaped almost exactly like his tail. The setting sun peaked just behind it to drape it in a fiery red. Redtail was amazed.
