“Look Tay! I painted our initials on the pavement.” The voice of my best friend rings inside my ears, her green eyes filling with joy as she pointed to a heart on the pavement, TS + KK painted in bold letters.

A sad smile spread across my lips as my eyes caught sight of the words “Our initials barely fit Kar.” I mumble and she only giggles “Oh, stop kicking the dramatics Tay.” She playfully mumbles and I just let out a sigh.

“I don’t want you to leave.” The words are out of my mouth before I can stop them and Karlie just gives me a stare.

“You agreed not to do this Tay.”

“I know.” I mutter “I’m sorry.” I add softly

“Karlie, what the fuck do you mean you have to marry him?” I yell out angrily as I throw her engagement ring across the floor.

“Taylor calm the fuck down, this wasn’t my choice okay! I love you but you know my label will never allow me to date a woman.”

“That’s just it Karlie! You could’ve ended that relationship but no, you chose him just like you do everytime!”

“Taylor I-“

“No Karlie you don’t get to apologise . You were supposed to be getting married to me. I was supposed to be waiting at the end of the isle for you, not him, not Josh. Just leave, Karlie.”

“I’m sorry too.” Karlie’s voice is soft as she pulls me into a hug .

“I just want a little luck for you to stay.” I mutter into her chest, the tears flowing down my cheeks freely.

“I know baby, I know.” She mutters lifting my chin, wiping away my tears with a delicate stroke.

The sunlight enters the quiet hotel room, my bare back facing Karlie’s, her fingertips dancing across my pale skin, a sad smile is on my lips as I turn to face her.

“Why the long face?” She whispers, placing a soft kiss on my forehead.

“I didn’t get enough sleep.” I lie easily “And you know, I’m an early riser so, there’s no use to try and get a few more hours in.”

“Well, hey there’s one advantage to this.” Karlie whispers, a smile on her face.

“And that would be?” I ask playfully.

“You woke up with that face.”

She pulls away from our embrace, her lips placing a lingering kiss on my forehead.

“I gotta go now, Tay.” She mumbles and there’s tears running down her cheeks as she turns and walks away.

My sobs become uncontrollable as I stand in the street alone. Composing myself, I walk across the street to a little café I used to go to on dates with Karlie.

“Ah Miss Swift, what can I do for you today?”

“Table for one, please.”
