"Hunter!" The (h/c) haired woman yelled to her son as she ran through the woods towards him.
The boy instantly got alert and dropped what he was doing and turned back to see his mother with her hands spread, ready to embrace him. Soon after she did the realization hit her that something wet and sticky was drenching through her clothes.
"Oh my god! Hunter, what is this?" She yelped in shock.
He kept silent. He didn't know what to say. It all felt so right, but for some reason in his mother's eyes it was wrong. Guilt rushed over him. He looked down at his feet, avoiding his mothers eyes.
The woman looked at the ground where the torn apart little body laid. Then at her son's hands. "Did you do this? Where did you find it?" She said, pointing at the bloody pile.
"I found it." He lied.
"Sweetie, you're not supposed to touch things like that. It could have lots of dangerous bacteria. You could get sick!" She warned him. "Don't ever do something like this again. Come on now, let's go home and get washed up."

The bubbles in the bath covered Hunters head and shoulders. He sat calmly as his mother rubbed the blood off of his tiny body.
"Hunter." She said in a concerned voice. "Please be honest with me. What were you doing to that little creature?"
He didn't answer right away, contemplating on how he should explain himself.
"I found it in the forest and... I thought... it was interesting. I-I'm sorry." He gave in. The kid truly felt guilty. But mostly because he was caught. There wasn't anything wrong with examining something that's already dead. It's not like he killed the creature.
The mother sighed. Deep inside she knew what was going on, but she couldn't really put her finger on it. It confused her. Worried her. At the end of the day, there was nothing she could do about it and that made her feel powerless.
After the bath it was time for bed. Hunter couldn't sleep however. His little mind was full of ideas. The image of that little animal stuck in his head. It was so fascinating. For the first time in his life he knew what he really wanted.
Eventually, he drifted off. That night he dreamt of an even bigger animal. It looked like a cat, but very a mutilated one. He could do whatever he wanted to it. It was the power he realised he craved for such a long time.
Then, came the morning. The child lazily opened his eyes. He was quite sad at this point that the dream was over, but soon he brushed it off as he knew that it will eventually become reality.
Hunter lazily got out of the bed, rubbing his big blue eyes with his tiny hands. He then made his way downstairs, where he was hit by a sweet smell of pancakes, his favourite.
"Good morning, sweetie." (Y/n) greeted him while flipping the last pancake.
Hunter just silently walked by the table and hoped onto the chair that was way too big for him. He let out a small smile as he saw a steaming pile of goods.
He grabbed the top one and took a big bite of it. Right after his mother slammed the last pancake on top.
"How did you sleep?" She asked.
"Good" he gave her a short answer.
She sighed. You could tell from her face that she was worried, or maybe concerned.
"That's good then." She replied unsurely. "Hey! Do you want some syrup with that?" The woman quickly changed the mood.
Hunter nodded happily as his mother poured the sweet liquid on top of the pancake pile.
Breakfast went well. Not even a word about yesterday's incident. Even though the little boy really wanted to boast more about his work, he knew that his mom wasn't the person to do that to.
If only he had someone to enthuse about his new passion. That would be great, he thought.
Then it hit him. There was definitely someone in the woods with him that night. Now he had a new goal: to find that someone. Ask them everything he wants to know. Find out who they are and what did they want when they threw that dead animal. Was it a sign of some kind.
Somehow, Hunter felt like a chosen one. Someone came to him at night and gave him a talisman. A symbol of some sort. But what symbol? There were so many questions and he needed to get the answers. That's when he made the decision to go back in the woods and search for the mysterious visitor.
After breakfast the boy quickly got off his chair and rushed to get his little coat.
"Wait! Where are you going?" His mother asked.
"Just outside." He answered casually.
"Hmmm... well, okay, but don't go outside the fence." She said firmly.
He nodded, but in his little mind he knew we had to disobey.
The weather was nice. Beautiful morning sun shone on the red, orange and yellow leaves, leaving beautiful sun bunnies all over the ground. The wind wasn't strong, just enough to make the trees shed their clothes and make it rain in beautiful colours.
The child stood in the middle of the yard, admiring the view for a minute, but he knew that soon he'll have to act. He turned his head back to see his mother standing by the window. She saw him staring and smiled. He smiled back. Then, as soon as she moved away, it was time. Hunter quickly rushed to the hole in the fence and crawled through.
Slowly walking through the forest he listened in for any footsteps or ruffling leaves, other than his own. Hoping to find the mysterious guest.
He wandered like that for roughly an hour, he'd been to that place that the encounter happened four times, but nothing. He tried calling out to that somebody, but got no answer. With the lost hope he came back to his yard and quickly checked if his mother was looking for him. It seemed like she hadn't noticed. The kid sighed in relief. However, he wasn't happy with today's results.
That's when he got an idea. The last time he was in the woods it was late at night. Maybe that's the time the stranger appeared. So he made a promise to himself to sneak out a night.
The rest of the day seemed to be going on for ever. Hunter couldn't wait. He was so excited, but at the same time really nervous, the whole day his stomach was turning.
Finally, the hour came for Hunter to go to bed. He pretended in front of his mother to go to bed and fall asleep, but as soon as he made sure she fell asleep, it was time. He got up and stuck downstairs, dressed up and went outside through the backdoor.
It was scary, cold wind roughly brushing against Hunter's cheeks. The moon being the only source of light. The boy quickly shook the feeling of fear off as there was something important he had to do. He wandered around until he reached that same spot that the stranger was before.
"Hello!" He yelled out, but no answer. He tried yelling again, louder this time, but yet again, nothing.
Hunter sighed in frustration, he made so much effort to come here at this hour and all for nothing. He waited for a couple of minutes just to make sure and then grumpily started walking back, but something stopped him. A soft ruffling of leaves. He turned back, but saw nothing.
Thinking that it was just wind he again started walking home, but it happened again. This time the child quickly ran towards the sound, but no one was there.
"Hello!" He yelled once more. "Is someone there?"
After a minute of silence he heard a calm, yet rough voice: "hey, kiddo."
I'm sooo sorry for being so late! It's just been a rough, busy time for me, but I'll. try to make more effort in writing, after all I have some ideas now that I want to put out. Anyway.
Hope you enjoyed! <3
