When we get to the hospital, Jhope is the first one out. He flips Namjoon off, then runs into the hospital. I get out next, Jungkook following me. Namjoon leads us inside. He politely asks the person at the front desk for Taehyung's room number. The woman, blushes, twirls a lock of her hair, then points down the hall.
"A4," she says quietly.
"Thank you." Namjoon turns to me. "Come one. The rest of you stay here. We'll be back soon."
Jungkook tries to protest, but one look from Namjoon shuts him up. I follow Namjoon down the hall. Neither one of us talks. I look at the room numbers as we pass them.
A15. A13. A11. A9. A7. A5.
I stop and turn tot he room on the other side of the hall. A4. He's in here.
"Well, what are you waiting for?" Namjoon asks. "Go inside."
I swallow and open the door.
"Who's there?"
Taehyung's deep voice hits me like a ton of bricks. A tear rolls down my cheek as I step inside, closing the door. He's laying on a small white bed, bandages wrapped around his waist. His left leg is held up in a leg brace, that too is wrapped in bandages. His face is covered in bruises, and his lip is split. He sees me and grins, opening the lip again.
"Noona!" he says. "You came!"
I smile back and walk towards him. "Of course I came. You're my best friend!"
"Technically, I'm your only friend, so best friend doesn't really mean anything." He winks.
I laugh. "Be quiet, Kim Taehyung. It means something to me."
He starts to laugh, then winces in pain, clutching his side.
I sigh. "Well, how bad is it?"
"A few broken ribs, fractured leg bone, nothing I can't heal from."
I glare at the bed sheets. "I hate him," I growl. "He's going to pay for this."
Taehyung takes my hand in his. "Noona, don't do something you're going to regret."
"Oh, I won't regret anything."
He tilts my chin so I'm looking him in the eyes. "Please, Annabelle," he whispers. "Please don't do it. For me."
That's when I start crying. The tears spill down my cheeks, and I bury my face into the bed. Taehyung strokes my hair, whispering to me softly. I can't tell what he's saying, my cries are too loud.
*TAEHYUNG'S POV*
"Ah, Noona, I am so sorry," I whisper as Annabelle sobs into the bed sheets. "I wish this had never happened. I hate seeing you hurt. I want to help you. Ever since the time Namjoon threw you against that locker on the first day of school, all I've ever wanted was to protect you. I can't see a life without you in it. I love you, Noona. I hope you love me back."
Her crying fills my head, causing my tears to fall too. They drip down my cheeks, landing no the sheets next to Annabelle.
I don't want her to be with way. It makes my heart ache. I can almost feel her pain. If our places had been switched, I would never forgive Namjoon. He's already hurt her enough. What more is he going to do? Now that I've been taken care of, he can do whatever he wants. She may not realize it, but I'm the reason that Annabelle isn't in my place. I saved her all those times that Namjoon tried to hurt her in any way. But she doesn't know. She doesn't even think twice about it. And I plan on keeping it that way.
