Waking Up

I slowly open my eyes, to immediately get welcomed by the blinding sunlight shining through the windows. My eyes adjust to the light and I take in my surroundings, i realize that I’m in the nurse’s office, again. I feel something on my stomach and feel a soft hand holding mine in a iron like grip, I look down and see Nicole resting her head on my stomach and holding my hand tightly, like I was going to leave her and she didn’t want me to go. I softly brush her hair away from her face with my free hand that wasn’t in an iron lock grip, I think I made too much noise cause she started to move. She lifted her head up and looked at me and her face immediately brightened up,

“Mari! Your awake!” She yells and hugs me, wrapping her white angel wings around me in a tight embrace.

I hug her back and nuzzle my head into her shoulder, breathing in and out steadily, I try to move to get up but Nicole pushes me back down lightly.

“ No, Mari, don’t try to move you can pop your stitchings in your back.” She says and starts to act like my personal nurse.

I smile lightly and chuckle, and I lay back down wincing lightly while I put pressure on my back.

“Thank you.” I say almost in a whisper,

“ It’s no problem, silly, I’ll do anything to help one of my friends.” When she says that it feels like my heart just soared but at the same time it felt like my heart got shot out of the sky.

I see her smile so brightly that I could brighten up a dark night,

“Why did you help me, I’m a Demon,” I say trying to get up again but this time she just sits on my lap, not letting me sit up.

“Because I Lo…..” she mumbles the rest of the sentence under her breath, not letting me hear the sentence.

“Umm Nicole, you kinda mumbled at the end there, can you say it again.” I say looking at her.

Her ocean blue eyes finally meet my now Amber eyes’ gaze, Nicole blushes lightly and says

“I- i didn’t say anything.”

I know she is lying and she is clearly terrible at lying or I can just easily tell when people are lying, but either way, I know she is lying, but i just let it slide, for now.

“Ok, and can you please get off of me Nicole.” I say referring to, Nicole still sitting on my lap.

“Nope!” She says cheerfully and smiling down at me.

“ Why?” I ask her sternly with a slightly raised eyebrow.

“ Cause knowing you, you will try to get up again, Silly” she says giggling lightly and lightly poking my nose.

‘ Damn, i fell for this girl and I’m still falling hard for her. I think to myself, still looking at Nicole, who is touching my horns lightly like they could break at any second with too much pressure. I yawn lightly and Nicole takes notice to this,

“You tired?” Nicole says tilting her head a bit to her left.

I nod my head and slowly close my eyes, i feel something lay down on my chest, i open one of my eyes and see Nicole laying on my chest with her eyes closed. She is still hugging me tightly and she has her eyes closed, dreaming peaceful dreams, smiling in her sleep. Her own smile makes me smile, almost automatically every time i see it, i close my eyes and hope my nightmares don't enter my dreams. I soon fall into a dreamless sleep.
