“Jen, can you hand me my robe?” Jisoo calls to her friend who’s exiting the shared bedroom. The younger girl rolls her eyes and strolls back into the room, grabbing the emerald and silver quidditch robes and exiting the room one final time. She tosses it over a pair of first years and the article of clothing hits Jisoo in the face, exactly like Jennie wanted it to.

The other girl glares at her friend and slips on the article of clothing, the silver 3 on her back shining brightly. She grabs the broomstick that’s resting on the floor in front of her spot on the leather couch and stands up. The two girls face each other, their identical robes showing off that they’re the Slytherin Quidditch Team Captains. It’s been a long time coming, five years on the team and now as sixth years they’re finally co-captains. It’s crazy.

Quidditch is what got the girls to become friends. Out of the sixteen first years that tried out, Jennie and Jisoo were the only two to make it to have an actual practice with the team. They showed exceptional skill and proved to everyone that even scrawny first years can help a team out. They won the Quidditch Cup that year, destroying Ravenclaw in the final and Jisoo was even able to give the opposing team’s asshole captain a concussion when she ‘accidentally’ hit him with her bat.

Jennie picks up her own broomstick, the sleek, black wood and perfectly combed bristles feel comforting against her grip. “Let’s go Chu, we have a big game against Gryffindor today and I want to kick their asses.” She turns towards the door and starts walking, Jisoo falling in stride with her easily.

The rest of the team will meet them under the pitch, in the locker room, so that they can talk about the game plan and Gryffindor strengths and weaknesses. The one problem is that Gryffindor doesn’t seem to have any weaknesses. Their Keeper is phenomenal, their Beaters have some of the best hits she’s ever seen, one of their Chasers is one of the only people who always gives Jennie a hard game, and their Seeker, oh god their Seeker is incredible.

“You worried?” Jisoo asks Jennie, nudging her softly with a gloved hand to get her attention. She can read her best friend like a book and right now she has anxiety written all over her face.

The chocolate-haired girl sighs and runs her fingers through her disheveled locks, not having put it up yet. “I’m worried about their seeker,” Jennie admits, “she’s incredibly fast and after her injury last year she’s been playing even harder just to show that she’s not as weak as everyone thinks.”

“How do you know that?”

Jisoo pushes open the heavy oak doors that lead to the school grounds, the fresh air hitting them in the face. “Seulgi, this Gryffindor girl in my Ancient Runes class, is friends with her. She says she’s been working tremendously hard. Besides, you saw their game against Ravenclaw three weeks ago, she caught the Snitch within 4 minutes. That’s a school record.” They walk down the stone stairs that lead to the groundskeeper’s hut and continue on past, Jennie sticks out her hand and runs it along the Kneazle that sits on the fence, hunting for small rodents. Running her hands along its fur helps her calm down for a moment, but as soon as she sees the tall towers of the quidditch pitch, her heart rate picks up again.

A comforting hand rests on her shoulder and she lets out a heavy sigh. If there’s one thing Jennie has learned through her six years on the team, it’s that stressing out over another team’s abilities is not a good idea. You have to focus on your own team, because that’s something you can change.

So, as a way of listening to her own advice, Jennie blocks out all thoughts of the Gryffindor team and their amazing Seeker, instead she plans on how to be the best Keeper ever and make sure Jisoo hits every bludger at their opponents.

“Don’t worry, Jen,” Jisoo whispers encouragingly, “we’ll be fine.”
