Beep. Beep. Beep.
"Nick, get up, hun! You're gonna be late for school." My mom said as I slowly open my eyes.
Woken up by my mother's voice and my alarm clock at once. I got up. It was the first school day. I honestly didn't anticipate it much. I had such a great time in the summer with Kate and Samantha, that I didn't want to imagine what it would be like going to school. Thankfully, Kate is in my new school! I ringed Kate on the phone, she did not sound super stoked for school, but who would? I did my usual morning routine and went out the house.
"Hey, Nick!" Kate came in front of me and greeted me. She was in her usual grudge-ish style. She's a great friend, we met last year and she taught me how to be confident with myself, along with Samantha. Sadly, she couldn't go to our school but we still keep in touch.
"Hey, Kate? You excited for today?" I asked with a smirk on my face, kind of already expecting the answer she was gonna say.
"I think it's obvious that I am not" Damn, don't mess with Kate when she's angry. Even though she's quite short, she can pack a hit.
We talked about random stuff on the road and we arrived at the school. It was stuffed with people, obviously. We went into a corner, and pretended to be the "quiet" kids. However that immersion quickly went away, as some of my new classmates greeted me. Kate wasn't happy with this image.
"Ok, you know everyone here is homophobic. Don't smile with your teeth and don't do any hand gestures too much."
She said and I did have to agree with her. Most people here weren't very welcoming to any LGBT+ people. I greeted some more people and chatted up Sam."Hey, boo. U at school?"
"Sadly, yes. Standing here like a soldier lmao."
"Wanna go out later with me and Katee?"
"U know i cant ever deny that request lol. catch u later though, ppl having speeches and stuff."
"cya."
Me and Kate split, because we are in different classes. I went to my class and stood on the front, I don't know why. I just did it for some weird reason. I listened to music and talked with a new classmate, Lola. She wasn't too bad, just a bit too talky for a first day at school. Maybe she was excited to go to school.
I looked a bit far off in front of me. That's where I saw him, my heart skipped a beat as I saw him.
A burn so sweet,
sinked in too deep,
That was my first burn in it.
