Now one thing my story may differ from others is that I actually met my boyfriend online. This long distance relationship isn't about two people meeting in the same location and moving away from one another, but two people who connected over technology.
I'm a bit of a nerd and enjoy things like video games. I have very few friends who are into video gaming like me so I ended up meeting a quite of few people over Playstation. All of us would play together every other night and stay up all night on the weekends. It was nice for once to connect and relate to people who share the same interests as me because many of my other friends outside of Playstation, weren't. This group of people I played with were all over the country, different ages ranging from 16-30, different backgrounds, different races, it was such a cool and interesting experience learning about everyone (which was about 10 of us). I was 17 at the time when I met everyone, I was one of the younger ones, I was still in high school and had a lot of time on my hands. As the 2017 year started to end, everyone started to grow distant since they were all busy and stayed off Playstation. After awhile I started to play with only 1 person (opposed to 7-8 people at a time), someone who was also in highschool, everyone else was busy. He had some other friends that he met through Playstation as well and asked me if I wanted to join them in a party (playstation party). I agreed, especially since i'll get that chance to meet some new people. It was two other guys, I remember the first night, I was just laughing my ass off. One of the guys were very kind to me, and the other one didn't say a word to me at all but always called the other guy a kiss ass because of the way he was talking to me.
This was the first night that I would meet my boyfriend. He didn't talk to me at first but as we started to open up more to each other, we eventually stopped calling one another by our gamer tag and started to us our actual names, we clicked so easily. New Years came around, it was the first night that we were in a party (playstation party of course) alone, it was awkward at first since we didn't know what to talk about but you can tell we both really tried to make conversation and get to know one another. Things just skyrocketed after that, we became extremely close. Our friendship was more then just restricted to playstation at that point, we texted every time we got the chance. I even considered him as my best friend as time went by, we were just that close.
That's just my story on how I met the love of my life, nothing to special or crazy. I know it is a bit nerdy but many people met online these days, whether its through a dating website, social media, an app, or things like video games. Its almost just part of today's society and not frowned upon in today's generation and actually becoming very common now.
